its more about the timing than the event itself. Sony see's that gamescom is too close to E3, and generating buzz and hype with a confrence right before the holiday season is a good marketing strategy.

booths! hopefully Ubisoft will attend and show off some new For Honor multiplayer gameplay. Sony and MS should attend gamescom, but they wont have confrences.
