Forums - Gaming Discussion - Thoughts on Studio's getting license rights to established non-gaming IP's?

With both Respawn and Visceral working on Star Wars games and there was also a rumor about Sucker Punch working on a Spiderman game, Disney just said they are no longer publishing video games so probably see plenty of their IP's getting licensed out and Platinum Games working on Star Fox and also developing the new turtles game. (These are just the examples that came to mind at the moment of writing)

I feel we are loosing out on some potentially great new IP's that could of been coming through the pipeline but rather than creating an original game the business decision comes in to develop based on a big name IP since a well know franchise is easy to sell.

What are peoples thoughts are on studio's getting license rights for IP's?

Do you like playing games based on Superheroes, Star Wars and film etc?

Or would you rather them stick to working on their own IP's?
