I have the game, interested to play, yet no room on the HDD to install it :/ Stupid 8th gen mandatory installs.
Currently struggling to finish some other games first as I keep getting sucked back into Minecraft.

Will you be plating it? ..Or attempting?

I will be, definitely if it's as good as they say. I used to love the Colin McRae series, finished all the DiRT games too althought not that good, even played the mediocre WRC series on ps3 (used to be much better on ps2). I kinda got bored quickly with WRC 5 on ps4, should just delete it and start dirt rally instead.

I've played a fair bit of the PC version and it's really good. Pretty brutal at times though! I just slightly misjudged a corner on one race clipped the side of the track, took off and slammed into a tree completely destroying my car >_< I was winning that championship at the time too :(

Definitely dump WRC5 - it's no longer the same dev. Milestone did the first 4 PS3 ones, it was I think Evolution Studios on the PS2 though. And an awful developer has taken over from WRC5 onwards.

DiRT Rally is definitely a lot more Colin McRae than it is DiRT.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Join the league so, theres a trophy for winning in one. In 5ish minutes stage as opposed to 12 stages.

Ok, joined it. I'll go through my installed games tonight, figure out what to delete. 45GB for a race game, I thought the visuals weren't the focus! I hope that doesn't mean I need 90 free to install... I guess that's only for downloading from the internet.

Unfortunately I have on PC, not PS4.

Are the leagues not cross play?

No they aren't.

Make sure to change your system to PS4 in the drop down menu on top right hand of the site. You joined the steam one which I must delete now, thinking of it.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've changed it to ps4 now but the find function isn't working anymore. No response to clicking the search button. Tried it on internet explorer instead and the browser crashed lol, won't let me log in to my account, error with the accounts system.
I'll try again later, perhaps it works from within the game? I hope the game is more stable than their website :)

Heres a direct link. VG_Cartz | RaceNet Leagues | DiRT Rally - The official game site Ill update the OP with it. The game is surprisingly stable, I can't install anything without it taking hours or play anything else for long without it crashing cause of dying lazer and HDD needing to be defragmented, skipping all the time. But DIRT has only fucked me over on the install which took me an hours or two (about 4 hours with dark souls 3), it crashed once but that was one seriously long as barrel roll.

Might have worked now. Still said Steam in that direct link but my account says ps4.
I tried it from within the game too yet the find button doesn't work there either. Now what the heck is clutch kick. An alternative use is to build up or maintain boost pressure to avoid turbo lag I have no idea what that sentence means lol. I guess an alternative to letting go of the gas, sounds bad for the car.

Ok gonna try it out.

Yeah, if you want an easier time taking hairpins and 90 degree turns you'lll wanna leave that one off, esspecially with a controller.  After your first race also, and I wish I'd have had known this before I played an entire Championship, go to the first, front menu and watch all the videos or at the very least the one about taking hairpins and the co driver signals, notes and timing. Checked league, you aren't there. You may need to sign in out again, the site is a bit...clunky tbh. You are about to start the "Dark souls of rally" driving. It really is tough, but like Dark souls once you get in that groove...you know the joy, right? Have fun and get DiRT.y

Ah, thanks for the tip. I'll turn it back off, I thought it was just an extra option not changing the normal behaviour. My kids are playing pvz gw2 atm, I got kicked off already. Initial impression 5/10. That's before even completing stage 1 though, presentation, graphics, career start, tutorials are all about as joyous as opening a spreadsheet. I had to quit out already since apparently my preferred view (only hood visible) is classified as an external cam (which I had blocked). The dashboard cam still manages to cover half the tv while painting giant pixels on the screen simulating a dirty wind screen, very distracting.

I'm sure I'll get into it, probably have to fine tune it some more, too many options! I joined the league again yet it says recruitment status closed. Maye that's blocking my request? It doesn't show any stats for my test driving attempts either, no vehicle driven yet, save and quit apparently didn't save or uncompleted stages aren't tracked. Although it does recognize I bought the crappy starter car. Vehicles owned 1.

Anyway glad it's not like WRC 5, win without even trying, felt impossible to crash.

Second impressions after playing most of the first championship, 6/10.

I got bored before the first championship was done. I was in 2nd place overall yet wasn't really having much fun tbh. I quit in the last Event, Sweden. Driving is decent, controls are a bit laggy (display lag I guess, not the same as colin mcrea on crt back in the day), also a bit sensitive and the car feels quite floaty. Might be because it's a car from the 50's.

Sense of speed is lacking, it feels like your only going half of what the speedometer says, except the car still behaves according to the listed speed. The flat lighting also doesn't help with the lack of depth perception. The stages lack personality, you might as well be driving the procedural generated rally stages from gt5, which handles better too on a controller.

All it has going for it it seems is the difficulty. Yet it's not even consistent. Why spite the user with harsh time penalties for a car reset or not undo damage when you use one of the limited stage restarts, while you can always simply save quit and restart the stage from the previous save. Except that that incurs you an annoying extra loading time. (long loading times ugh)

I guess I was expecting too much after all the praise. Considering the (lack of) competition I should have known better :) It lacks soul, music sounds like it was made in Fract OSC, no replays, it's all very clinical, more like taking a driving test than pushing a car to its limits.

Perhaps it all gets better with later cars, for now I wish the co driver would shut up with his overload on too early information. Damn I'm not a waiter taking an order! I ended up turning into dead ends several times with his confusing laundry lists. Then he finally gave some sensible concise information and it was wrong lol. Turn before the house, yeah except way before the house, don't drive towards it into another dead end haha.

I probably sound overly negative, just disappointed this is not going to do anything either to reverse the decline in racing game interest. Niche game. However the sound design is indeed excellent.

Btw what is enter shakedown. I did it once, it let me drive for a bit, finished, didn't explain anything.
