Not sure I completely understand.

Can't you choose to demonetize your own videos? So if you wanted something to be ad-free/not have Nintendo get the money - couldn't have have just turned off monetizing for that video?

Edit: outspeeded

Nintendo seriously needs to change this mess before NX comes out, it's unacceptable from them in 2016 to still have such a copyright policy

You mean the whole try to monetize on someone's video?, Nintendo aren't the only ones who do that, Sony's done it quite a lot as well as other parties.

Smart move... also brutal review of starfox zero.

i honestly wonder how that game got a 71 meta score. just shows that reviewers go way to easy on Nintendo just because they are Nintendo.

Or maybe they actually like the game more than you assume. Why does everything have to have a hidden agenda? Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis Ultra Smash got bad reviews and scores so this ain't the first time a Nintendo game got hit with bad reviews and it aint the last. Most companies, if not all, got their share of bad/mediocre games. Star Fox Zero got mixed reviews with some being a little more positive than others. Gamers complain that Nintendo games are reviewed relatively harsh, especially by Gamespot, now they think they're being easy on Nintendo? Again, what you think of the game is your opinion, but if the reviewers actually played the damn game and think it's not all that bad, is there a problem with that? I think the controls were not easy to handle, but I got better as I continued playing Zero. Does my opinion matter? Am I too easy on Nintendo and on Star Fox Zero? Jeez..

Guess all those people missed them memo that Nintendo made Mario Tennis Ultra Smash and Amiibo Festival and Mario Party 10 and also funded Devil's Third seeing as how all of those got hit really hard by critics.  If you actually look at the critics on Meta, you would see that Star Fox is a highly divsive title.  Which isn't surprising, unconventional controls almost always lead to divisiveness.  Also, Star Fox Zero has a 69 meta.  Nice try though.

He, Jims always good for a little surprise.
This, of course doesn't solve anything for actual honest content creators who live off monetization (and not patreon) and will enable pirates lifes to be easier.

Well done youtube.

i know it has a 69 meta, what i am saying is that a 69 is way too high for it.

I know what you're saying.  I'm just pointing out that reviews are based on the reviewers experiences and unconventional, unusual design decisions almost always result in highly divisive scores.  You can see it in the reviews, you can see it in discussions.  And like I said, your little point that they take it easy on them is based on this one game while my statement that they don't get much slack at all comes from multiple games and I can frankly list more.

While not technically incorrect the use of the word 'gamers' there isn't entirely accurate. It would be much more accurate to say 'Nintendo gamers', because those are really the only ones complaining about Nintendo games being reviewed too harshly. Of course that isn't exclusive to Nintendo and Nintendo gamers, however it is worth mentioning that those saying reviewers are being too harsh/soft on Nintendo are generally not the same people.

I probably should have reworded that. Regardless, any fan of a particular company will complain about a certain game being reviewed harshly, as you said. Though I'm sure gamers outside of Nintendo would at least somewhat agree about a couple of games like DK Tropical Freeze being viewed harshly.

I like him and his video's, and this is a fantastic idea.

I do disagree with just shitting on star fox,it's a good not great game. I think it was fun to play something that had a different control style.

Ithink the problem lies with companies like polygon that put a couple of hours or so into the game and then say it's controls are broken and say they won't give it a review because of that.

First of all it's your job, so play the game long enough to figure it out, and secondly if you think the controls in the game are broken, you haven't played nearly enough video games that are actually broken. Complaining that you don't like the controls is fine but they are actually easy enough to get the hang of within the first couple of missions, if you play video games a moderate amount.
