Forums - General Discussion - To Me PS3 sucks right now, and I don't know about you but I think it sucks

I just got one question? for everybody - How has your Playstation 3 Experience been? - And would you do it again if you could go back:

for me I bought mine a little after launch and I must say it's been a huge disappointment, If I had it to do again I probably would have just waited for some good games.  I have two good games for my system – Motorstorm & Resistance Fall of Man.

That’s it, two games, all this time for two games. Now I don’t know much about the design of gaming systems but what I can tell you is a system is defined buy one thing – good games.

The thing that is so crazy about this is I play xbox 360 just about everyday. And PS3 maybe once in a blue moon.  I feel like just selling the thing. Maybe buy one in 6 months or something if something good comes out.

I guess F.E.A.R left a bad taste in my mouth, that game was awful and really had no business being on PS3 looking the way it did, and it played like a junior high school student wrote the code for it. Awful.

Sony, should just release the home beta to everyone because right now theirs nothing to do on the system but surf the net, and that’s what I have a computer for.  My gaming system should be for playing games.

GOD OF WAR II was the last thing I played on PS3 and when I beat the game, I was so sad because I knew that ended the good gaming feel I was just starting to have.

Now don’t get me wrong the system does not suck, but it sure as hell is sucking right now.  As far as games I don’t know about everyone else but LAIR just doesn’t seem to be something I would be interested in playing, and Warhawk, heavenly sword, MGS4 all look good and I can’t wait for those but there so far off into the future.

That it just seems crazy to tell anyone to buy a PS3 this Christmas. I would say get an Xbox 360 and enjoy gaming right now, and I’m a Playstation die hard. But I just feel let down. Big-time.  $600 dollars worth. And that’s a lot to pay for something to sit next to my tv collecting dust.

can you tell me what you were playing on the 360 at this point in its life, please?

I havent been as unhappy with my ps3 as i have been with my wii the only thing the wii does better to me is that it has a better browser. THe Ps3 only seems bad because the media made it seem that way making ppl choose not to buy it which attribute to the poor sales. I mean No console ver launched before with a great library of games it takes time for it to build yesterday when i found out all the great new stuff happening at Sonys gamersday i am seriously pumped i mean sony publishing 19 games for the ps3 this year and 15 exclusive is phenomenal. I mean Warhawk and Socom online only and available through download is just incredible plus sony has 34 PSN titles in the works is cool too. Tis a shame that the poor coverage in the media contributing to poor sales ( and the 600 dollar price tag) meaning so many ppl will never get to play LAIR Heavenly Sword Uncharted Singstar, Ratchet. One question WHere the heck was killzone2.

Why would you sell it now to buy it back 6 months later, sounds like money lost lots of money...

But yeah the pickings are slim just like ever system that just launched, 360 last year this time had like Oblivion and Graw and that was about it.

The next two big games are Ninja Gaiden Sigma at the end of June (if you have the original maybe it's not interesting for you) and Lair at the end of July.

I think Heavenly Sword is gonna hit in August and then Warhawk in September but I'm not sure about those and then after that Ratchet, Socom, Uncharted and Little Big Planet are looking like they will come out in the September-December period. So lots more exclusive good games coming near the holidays.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Yes exactly. People have no idea what Sony is doing to to get us games, but they are doing quite a bit. Killlzone 2 will be shown at either the new E3 or TGS. I forget which one. A demo is supposed to be released sometime I believe. Or a beta. Something like that.

The new 2.0 firmware update is about to hit as well, which gives the PS3 as much functionality as the XBox 360 doing some things better than the 360 and of course doing some things still not as good as the 360.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Killzone should be on that list too, they are just not leaking any info about it til E3. It has been confirmed that Warhawk and Killzone will have open Betas. I signed up for the Warhawk one yesterday, so they are actually delivering.

Surely non of us have any idea of whats instore for the PS3, especially those PS3 owners on this forum, such as the OP and myself. A large list of mostly mediocre titles really adds to this discussion about the current lack of PS3 games. No one here had any idea about Killzone 2, a sequel to an average game, until you posted it. Now seriously, I find myself in much the same situation as you. Currently I'm playing my 360 everyday, but only turn on the PS3 about once per week. The only time I put a decent amount of hours into the PS3 was when my 360 was broken and I went on a little RFOM online binge. The PS3's features also seem a little half assed, or atleast the integration is nowhere near the level of the 360. Outside of that I see nothing compelling for it in the immediate future; Lair, IMHO, will have shit gameplay, or atleast a dynasty warriors type I despise. Heavenly Sword isn't my type of game, regardless of how good it is. Warhawk looks like a troubled mess, but I'll give it more of a shot if/when I get into the beta. Killzone, 75% chance this will suck, 15% it will be decent, and 10% that it will be great. Drake, maybe, but I want to see more of the game before I make up my mind, but I must say the things shown off at gamers day look really cool. Sigma, not my type of game and I couldn't care less about it. Given the chance to do things over, I'm really not sure. Waiting till more games come out does have its logic, but whats the point if the system isnt going to see a pricecut for some time? That was more or less my attittude at launch, but now with poor sales and rumors swirling, a price cut may not be far off, so waiting till the winter may be the best route. Furthermore, you'll have a great selection of games and home, and hopefully a better PSN, meaning you won't be as dissapointed. "He Ps3 only seems bad because the media made it seem that way making ppl choose not to buy it which attribute to the poor sales." Right, because our opinions are swayed by bad press while yours arent swayed by Sony and their hype? I think that if anything has contributed to this disappointment, its sonys own crooning over the system that lead to disappointment. I was also way to hyped up for resistence, and consequently a little disappointed. If you are going to buy a PS3, have realistic expectations. Dont think the Cell is going to make every game amazing, dont expect the graphics to all be mindblowing, dont expect the online to be like live. That said, its great hardware that is built very well, unlike my 360. Furthermore, it is a great bluray player, although it doesnt have an IR port so youll either use the controller or shell out the cash for another remote. BTW, MGS4 isn't coming out this holiday, unless your dreaming.
