I am fascinated by extinct animals especially dinosaurs. Sauropods (long necks) are my favourite species of dinosaur but Hadrosaurs (duck bills) have been a close second, The king of the duckbills is Shantungosaurus The gentle giant of china and by far the largest non-sauropod dinosaur. It was already pretty big standing at 9meters (29feet) and reaching 16 meters (52feet) in length ( below) but a newer specimen has been found that is even bigger.

The recently discovered specimen (above) clocks in at 11.3 meters (37 feet tall) and 18.7 meters (61 feet long). Of course being a chinese dinosaur the new find recieved zero coverage in the west so you really have to be clued up to find this information. Untill recently i had no idea about this "new" find although it was mounted in 2011. I really think it is amazing how land animals got so big in the passed, they really were magnificent beasts.
