If Xbox 360 is capable of running games with better graphics than the Playstation 3, than that is just embarassing, because Sony focused on graphics more than its competitors. If the Playstation 3 doesn't have the graphics, than what does it have? Right now, Nintendo has the controller. Xbox 360 has the games. Playstation 3 should have had the graphics. I don't understand how a game on an HD DVD disc could be better than a game on a Blu-Ray disc.

360 games don't run on hd-dvd, so yeah, it would be very hard for a game on hd-dvd to be better right now; no such device exists.

It is already becoming an advantage for Sony, the blu-ray drive that is, since a collectors edition of Stranglehold will contain a blu-ray version of the movie Hard Boiled on the same disc as the game. Stranglehold is a sequel to the critically acclaimed John Woo movie.

Also, concerning graphics, the only game that has suffered on the PS3 is F.E.A.R. because Day 1 Studios had only worked on the xbox and 360 before. They did both ports from the PC, the 360 version was good but the PS3 version wasn't. That's just a bad port. There have been no other major differences, and many PS3 games look better, like Oblivion, that also loads MUCH faster.

Edit: I'd also like to mention that Day 1 Studios will be doing the multi-platform (360 and PS3) title, Fracture. Hopefully they'll learn how to use the PS3 for that one.

I think what a.l.e.x59 meant is there is no clear-cut or overwhelming graphical advantage to be seen by the PS3 as of yet.

Let's see if Day 1 can come up with a multi-plat title that does show the differences between the two consoles (favorably for the PS3, that is), but I'm afraid that being cross-ports they won't be very different, hence any potential graphic superiority (for either console, if there is any) won't be apparent.

Not sure if it was him or not that I was responding to, but someone said that the games so far showed a superiority on the 360. Other than Gears and that bad port, I disagree, that's all. I'm not sure that any multi-plat release will show any differences unless they are more proficient with one system over another (such as Day 1 Studios so far).

I agree that there is not a clear-cut advantage when comparing games out so far, but we're seeing the PS3 games improving already, and Motorstorm is already up there as one of the best graphical games.

Huh? Go to IGN head to head, 1up, Eurogamer comparison articles..

I dont have time to track down the references but virtually every single multi-plat game so far has run if not looked better on 360. Also, many multi-plat releases have been delayed on PS3. The one exception I know of being Oblivion.

Yeah Oblivion is a little better on the PS3, non of that 'loading area' and a LOT LESS building 'pop up'. After playing both (currently playing on the 360 version) I find the 360 version is like trying to run a top spec game on a P.C that isn't really up to the task. However I'm reasonably sure a bit more fine tuning would have corrected that. In shivering isle on the 360 there appears to be a lot more 'fading in' than 'pop up'.

Believe me... I HATE pop up, more so on a game like Oblivion, as you can't look down a hillside to see a old fort, you have to walk up to it to load it in >.<

Good to see this site is still going

actually most of the people here who follow pc console hardware COULD design the Hardware aspects(not software) of a console that would be about equal or better than the xbox360 and about the same price to boot- for the hardware atleast. it's called building your own PC...try it sometime. case mobo ram hdd dvd drive video is all you need. lets see what i can come up with - sans software- hardware -retail price- that would be equal or better than the xbox360 ok case will be bigger than a console, but lets see what i can build for ~400 dollars case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811164097 26bucks dvdrom 18 - any ram- 2gig- 82 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208283 hard drive 53- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822144414 mobo 54- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135011 processor 69 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103760 video- 130 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131026 ok with the rebate on the video card we are at 430 dollars RETAIL. switching to a 1650 video card could drop the price by 45 dollars switching to a gig of ram cuts the price by 40 dollars scaling down the processor could cut price by 30 dollars so we have a PC for between 315 and 430 dollars - Retail add usb wireless controller for 30 and you have a gaming pc - sans operating system software - a version of linux like unbutu =free or getting vista for 112 or XP media center for 110 and you are set except for keyboard, mouse and monitor. keyboard mouse= another 20 bucks resolution the video card can do is greater than 1080p - (1920x1080) at 2048 x 1536

editing screws up formatting...

it'd do 720p resolution better though

there isnt gonna be a downfall...cause sony knows what they are doin...alot of people r thrashing it because of its price....then why the heck is the system still selling....huh...and people the system is a 10 YEAR LIFE SPAN SYSTEM.....NOT A 5 YEAR SYSTEM....sony is doing something different...just wait till 4 years from now and microsoft and nintendo have to start over from ground up and build a new system....sony is already in the next console war...there system covers 2 console generations!!!!!

I don't think it is underrated. Most people know it is a very powerfull machine capable of very good graphics. It's just that it is overpriced for a game machine and has crappy games, so far. At least crappy for a $600 system. It would have been on par with Wii had it been sub $400.

So, in other words Sony has adopted the strategy that SNK used with the Neo-Geo?

The Neo-Geo was released in 1990 and continued to be used in arcades until 2004 because of how good it was at producing 2D games; even though it was far more powerful than the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and the Sega Genesis the Neo-Geo sold remarkably poorly in the home market because of how expensive it was.

That has been Nintenodo's approach this gen. The Wii is a little more powerfull than the GC but the real difference is the controller and facelift. Not the hardware. Yet, so many people say negative things of Nintendo's approach.

ITS SONY THATS WHY EVERYONE TRUSTS SONY!!! AND NOW EVERYONE IS HATING SONY BECAUSE OF ITS PRICE!!!!!! JUST GET OVER IT AND MOVE ON!!!!!

I have been reviewing some of my previous threads, and it appeared that I was bashing the Playstation 3 in favor for the Nintendo Wii, and Microsoft Xbox 360. That is unfair to Sony Playstation 3, because it is a really good system, despite a few flaws.

I've bashed the Sony Playstation 3 enough. It is about time I say some good things about it.

I've been reading more about the system, and the truth is, it is a very under rated system.

The Playstation 3 is only $200 more expensive than the Xbox 360. However, because Sony is losing more money, per console, than Xbox 360 is on their consoles, you are getting a better deal when you purchase the Playstation 3... *yada, yada, yada*

Oh, so what you're trying to say is, you better go on record for saying good things about the PS3 seeing as it's looking like, after the Sony gamers day event, that Sony's PS3 is about to kick some major ass. Ah, I see, well..OK. You really haven't said anything that hasn't been drummed repeatedly out since 2005 by Sony's fanbase to the likes of people like you that dogged the PS3 like crazy... and you're only reading up on it now? lol, wow.
