Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Here is Nintendo's Chance to Regain Its Rightful Throne Back

I called it. I really did. They have no reason to not go for broke!! But I did write something pretty close to what I have here over 6 months ago. Both that it would be a handheld/console AND it would be more powerful than XB1/PS4 - not rocket science. The combo was for 2 reasons, the handheld market has shrunk and likely will continue to shrink and Miyamoto said over a year ago he wants to see the symbiotic relationship between handheld and console. With PSP/PS3, Wii U and the Gamepad, along with PS4/Vita remote play it was a no brainer.

Then hardware power. Sure there was plenty of belly aching over the 'underpowered' Wii U, but it's almost more like Nintendo would have to go out of their way to piece together a machine that didn't at the very least match XB1/PS4. There is a large gulf, but not tremendous graphical difference between XB1/PS4 and Wii U...heck PS3/360 still looks great a decade old. This puts Nintendo in potentially a fantastic position. Sony and Microsoft are locked in their machine for at least 4 more years. It could be 3 for Microsoft, but if Nintendo plays its cards right they could have THE most powerful machine for 3 to 4 years - THATS HUGE!! AND it could be that developers no longer have to develop for a console and a handheld. If they create ONE game that works on both that is quite enticing. This is a huge opportunity, and maybe one of its last, for Nintendo to regain its rightful position as the top video game company!
