Forums - Gaming Discussion - Just finished Tales from the Borderlands episode 1....

Wow. Literally hilarious. I don't think I've ever laughed this hard at a video game. Love how the two parts of the story intertwine based on your decisions in each.

Easily the best Telltale single episode I've played so far. Once I finish the next 4 episodes I'll see if I like it more than both seasons of TWD.

In case you haven't played it yet episode 1 is currently free on PSN. Not sure if it's on Ps3 but I got it for Ps4. Highly recommend.

Feel a bit ashamed I didn't get it sooner!

Anybody else enjoy Tales from the Borderlands?

Absolutely yes. The game is fantastic and I had no idea telltale could do the humor and characters so perfectly from Borderlands.

Yup, it is pretty great, I liked quite a bit and I´m not a borderlands fan.

Is it worth playing even if You havent played Borderlands at all?

For non-fans of Borderlands, this is great. For fans of Borderlands, this is absolutely fantastic. The characters and references are all perfect, and having played through episode four so far, I can safely say it stays awesome. I can't wait for the final episode to come out.

A thousand times yes. I only played the original Borderlands and while the game is good the story is forgetable.

Basically just know the entire Borderlands setting is about a planet Pandora. Coorporations want to find vaults which supposedly contain treasures and shit. If you know that you can follow along

It's a bit of a toss up. It isn't as if you won't enjoy it, but you would enjoy it all substantially more if you played Borderlands 2 and the Pre-Sequel, as Tales from the Borderlands takes place after the second game (which is significantly more story focused than the first), and features characters and concepts from the Pre-Sequel. A lot of the jokes are much better if you already understand the crazy world that is Pandora, and character interactions are more fulfilling when you understand who the characters are and where they came from.

Yes, the story itself is original, and the main characters have no ties to former games. On that basis alone, technically you could enjoy the game quite a bit based on a very, very limited knowledge on the basic concept of the series. For me though, every bit of the experience was fantastic because of the mountain of references to things primarily from Borderlands 2, the Borderlands 2 DLC, and the Pre-Sequel. As a Borderlands fan, this is everything I could have hoped for out of a Telltale adaptation, and I'm very satisified.

From my perspective though, I just think too much would be missed jumping into Tales from the Borderlands without having actually played at least Borderlands 2 and the Pre-Sequel. Not to mention that you'll spoil the living hell out of those two games as you dive deeper into the episodes.

I'm really pathetic and have no friends. Please excuse the trolling message that used to be here, I don't know any better.
