Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft lost more money this quarter than Sony

But Bill Gates is still the second richest person on the world thou, so if anything happen to Microsoft then he will do something. While in other side of the world SONY and Japan is struggling with economy problem within their country. So SONY small gain is still cannot be compared to Microsoft loss because it will not affecting the whole idea of Video gaming Industry market.

The numbers were actually outstanding from Microsoft with larger than expected growth, beating both revenue and profit estimates. Just a large writedown in Nokia being the killer.

source?

seriously? is it that hard to read news? the predictions were for 56 cents EPS they posted 62, they were predicting 22.03 billion revenue, they hit 22.18. They exceeded expectations. There is always a market over reaction on a loss though even though the write off was announced well in advance. you should see the stock easily recover the 3.5% drop in the next day or two as investors look closer at the numbers which were amazing for a quarter prior to a major release (traditional drop off as buyers hold back).

Ahhhh op. You disappoint. Would have been 5 billion profit if not for the write off.

How is Sony doing again? What aren't you supposed to do in a glass house?

DOOOOM

oh well... at least they're not apple. it's one thing to disappoint investors with a loss but it's a totally different thing to disappoint them with hudge profits.

I don't understand why everything has to be MS v Sony. Could you not have just give us the information on MS without bringing Sony into it? Sure, Sony can have its small victories here and there but they really are few and far between financially and if you want to turn this into MS v Sony financially, MS is literally always going to win.

Sonys revenue was growing to 10 Billion $ last year, i havent seen any news about that. Berfore it was all about profi profi profit. Now when MS is doing loses, revenue is more important?
