Can I make you a question Ian? Have you tried the game at 640p? It´s a bit lame, I know, But tons of ps3 games were at 640p and they looked fine, Watchdogs on WiiU runs at that resolution too, and is not so bad if the game looks as gorgeous as PC does. Maybe there is more realistic chances with that resolution.

Ian Bell:

It wouldn't help. Our tyre model is saturating the WiiU's full compliment of CPU. There's not much left for anything else.

Ian has said that they can achieve the 30fps but they nee a heavy optimization work. "And financials comes into this"

Of course financials comes into this. I would think twice before taking the risk of making a Wii U game if I were them. The game has to sell. It's not a charity. Considering how badly most third party games sell on the console, I don't see how anyone can hold this against them. Is the extra money and effort really going to pay off? History paints a pretty clear picture about that.

They should have done what everyone else did and never announced a WiiU version to begin with. Yikes, what a waste to think they'd go this far then get blasted for telling the truth. Ridiculous.

What is ridiculous is the amount of money he got to actually kick off the project from the hands of WiiU owners.

Where does this misconception keep coming from? Ian Bell stated that 95% of the funding was raised before any console versions were annouced.

Direct quote from Ian Bell (SMS's CEO):
"We started the project as a Free to Play PC racing game. That's where more than 95% of the funding was raised. It later (by the choice of the backers) changed to a standard console release on last gen. This then changed (by decision of the backers) to a standard console release on next gen systems."

Yes, and they cancelled the PS360 versions for the same reason. Wii U lasted longer because it's Nintendo's current system, but it's technically closer to the PS360 than it is to the PS4/One. You just have to do the math really.

It was from something like two years ago, they released a graph showing the interest in the game by console preference from their sponsors. The WiiU was like at 50%, but it is from very long ago and I don't have the source on hand, I will dig it up.

They put out a public poll asking which platform you prefer for the game, and Wii U was leading.  Don't read much into it, though.  The poll was linked on more than one Nintendo fansite, basically telling people to vote in favor of Wii U.  It's never a good indicator.

As for the actual thread, I don't see any lies.  The problem lies in the developers not able to get the game running at a respectable framerate.  I'm sure it looks nice, but that's not the problem.  Wii U clearly is capable of delivering the core content (just as the 360 and PS3 could), but they've moved beyond that with better physics and features for the PS4/XB1 that it no longer can run it.

Online polls to gague user interest and buying potential?  ...haha OK.  This site alone tells you how that is a farce.

People have been complaining about that dumb ass CPU from day one but nooope. "laziness", "incompetience","out of order execution"! Still going to call them liars? Still going to call them dishonest? Lazy?

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

interest is NOT the same as funding. Even then those people were supposed to get money and not a Wii U version in particular

Everyone was complaining about the dumb ass CPU from day one, except the producers of Project Cars.

Well the poducers were either being (a) polite or (b) delusional cause many other devs didnt hold back from criticising it at LAUNCH. As usual those devs were all dismissed and as usual it turned out to be true in the long run. I'll trust actual programmers over forum posters and random indie devs any day of the week.

They clearly hadnt implemented their tyre model at that point in time. Unless you think all the code and all the games features were ready back in 2013. Perhaps they fell for that GPGPU hype, but that means next to nothing if the GPU itself doesn't have the raw power to back it up.

None of this is new and it has all been brought up many times before on this very forum but no one wanted to listen, they'd rather believe in secret sauce and fairy tails. But you know whats really sad? That tyre model could probabbly run great on Teh Cell. Ridiculous.

The game got more ambitious, especially since Namco stepped in. The game got more complex and they wanted to go harder. Too bad systems cant and tehy get left behind. They wanted this to be on WIi U, but alas it wasnt up to snuff with there final vision. Of course they should not have talked so much in the beginning. But lets not act like it was malicious, that is silly.

They should just released what they initally had for Wii U? For what? For people to complain it is gimped like they do for damn near most of the WIi U versions of multiplats? And they would still be called liars?

People arent complaining about cancelled PS360 version.

Emotions have to be set aside and logic has to come thru for a bit. No Wii U version? suspect. PS360 version cancelled? and people still believed a WIi U version would be coming? Even if it was it would be so different that they might as well had been two different games.
