I think I understood most of what you wrote and that is a big achievment! I have no idea about all this tech stuff but you made it simple for me. So thanks!!

I knew from the first day that the graphics where going to suck hard but as long as I can do mindless fetch quests around the world map it's all good.

This is really appreciated btw. I hope you do the same for Retro's next project and compare it to DKC: TF to see if they made progress.

That would be really interesting indeed.

Thanks for the time and thought you've put in this "preview" tech-analysis, but I'll have to align with JayWood: either make it with the final game or don't do it (but of course you'll be too busy playing the game at launch to bother making the analysis by then ).

It's just that it already pisses me off that professional, paid for, reviewers and sites use not final code to review games, to now see the same thing in forums.

With that said, I'll be looking forward to your final writing and if the framerate is better in the final product (because once I start playing a game, I tend to overlook most of the other issues you mention).

It's essentially just testing the waters and gathering feedback on what portions of the game people are actually interested in seeing an analysis for, you can only extrapolate so much from a video with build date unknown and no encoder log for the original video to ensure no frames were dropped during capture or encode.

I'd also like to point out that it's not a review, simply a tech analysis based on the elements that could be solidly pinned down alone, I made every effort to put across that point.

I understand what you are trying to do and that neither this nor the final writing will be reviews. I used the "preview" moniker as this analysis is not based on the final game, and I only used game reviews as an example to make clear my point that I don't like people taking conclusions from incomplete data/info (both in games and in real life).

And yes, I know you aren't doing that. But if this idea of yours succeeds, others will try to copy it and they can fall on that mistake.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

An actual interesting read, you should do more like this.

Just ignore the ones that don't start with "Tachikoma's" ;D

Heh, just kidding.

This thread is all kinds of awesome.

Great effort from OP, one that is missing in most threads. Will be checking this after the game is released :)

Excellent analysis .
Looking forward to hearing more when the game arrives.

Nice tech analysis. Looking forward to see if there is any improvement between this and the final release.

Great read, I hope you'll keep them coming...tbh, I'm wondering why aren't you doing this sort of thing for some big gaming outlet.

So it's even worse than what the hardware is capable of. That's a bummer.
