I feel bad for insomniac. They made some great games in PS3 but sold poorly. Resistance 3, ratchet and clank a crack in time deserves more sales. Then they again put their dice for the wrong system (Sony is partly to blame for this).

sony had the chance to get the game but were to greedy and wanted the ip ms let insomniac keep the ip

Greedy? If they fully fund teh game and advertise it, why shouldn't they own it?

Greedy? They will advertise the game and fund it only to not own the IP? Nope. I am happy that Sony does it. This is why Sony IP remains exclusivity.

Id blame Sony for this more than MS. MS paid for more "Exclusive Rights" than Sony did.

Id back the any horse (wrong or not) if it paid me enough to do so.

lol Sony is to blame because of a contract 2 other companies signed between themselves?

BUS 101: The target of every company is to maximize shareholders wealth. MS / Sony / Nintendo all are greedy. No one is saint.

SO selling is decently. But not good. Its like PS3 era when their preferred system doesn't have bigger install base nor default system. You can say any point you want. But that doesn't change the fact, SO could have sold better if X1 had PS4 like install base or been a preferred system.

Except publishers didn't make those deals with Microsoft because they thought Microsoft would win. They made them because Microsoft were able to pay for them, simple as that. Those deals will continue as well (see Rise of the Tomb Raider).

Not to the same extent we've been seeing last gen and the beginning of this. I will have to disagree with you. Moneyhatting is most feasible when you either have total domination or a close sell through ratio with the competition.

With the perpetual rise of development costs and ease of porting between the two, the amount of money MS will have to pay to keep anything away from Sony will only increase as Sony's lead in sales does as well. I'm sure the two correlate;

On top of that, this whole notion that MS is willing to take loss after loss for little gain is ridiculous.

^This is my favorite logic flaw of all time!  I don't know why everyone seems to think MS (Or Nintendo for that matter) would be willing to just burn piles of money to stay in a losing fight.  These companies are businesses made to make money, not find fanboy ways of burning it!

If Xbox continues to fail, they will quit.  And if a Nintendo console fails, they will drop it and start over as soon as possible.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

[Prediction Made 6/18/2014]

I wonder what would happen if they made a Nintendo game :o

Sony got the best end of the deal, the game was a sales flop and ip is near worthless.

While Insomnaics is still making Ratchet for them.

Nintendo arguably had a couple of "failed" consoles, but they haven't quit.

Even now we're seeing the WiiU and I don't see them dropping it, they're working on a new system, yes, but that's it.

I think it would be more reasonable to say that MS were more generous, rather than that Sony were 'too greedy'. The latter implies that the deal Sony were offering was inherently unfair, rather than just being less than what Insomniac wanted (i don't think it was your intention to say that, but it's how it comes across to me).

OT: It could be argued that they may have overestimated MS's future position (which would have made deals cheaper for MS), but the deals themselves would likely have been made in one form or another regardless. The end goal of most of these deals is risk mitigation. The cost may vary, but as long as Sony, MS, or Nintendo are willing to pay what's asked of them, then the deal is their's.
