Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Do you remember??? Your first time with OoT...

I was thinking about why The Legend of Zelda still is my favorite game of all time, even when I play it for the first time 10 years ago...I've played Majora's Mask,Twiligth Princess, Galaxy, and I love this games, but OoT is my favorite no matter what.

So I remember the first time I played it, I was a child, I was like 10 years old. I bougth the game because I watched and advertisment on TV, and the game seemed pretty fun. It was my first Zelda, I didn't know it wasn't the first Zelda game.

At that time, I didn't know a sinlge word in English, not at all (well maybe 'Hi' and 'Good Morning'), so for me it was pretty difficult to figure out what I had to do. But I wasn't thinking about that, I was running, jumping, breking things... I was stuck in forest for like a month (I didn't know what the game was about), but it wasn't boring. Then I finally I knew what to do...The rest is history... I loved every single minute of the game...Everything, the music, the graphics, the weapons, etc.

I know it's unfair to compair for example OoT with TP, because the first one had the step between 2D and 3D but, if OoT wasn't been such a fine game, even being the game where the step was made, it wouldn't be remember as one of the best games of all time.

So...How was your first time with OoT?

1   2   3  not only you and me.

Livin' in sin is the new thing.

I really enjoyed OoT a lot when it was first released... but I don't really play the game much now.

I used to play the game over and over again (mostly for time trail purposes...for example seeing how fast I could do the first 3 temples under ), but other then that I've never really liked the Zelda series before OoT came along (besides Zelda 2 and Link's awakening).

I still play that game. XD My friends and I are gonna see who can beat it the fastest soon. =x

Yep, fond memories. It was highly anticipated for years before its release. I had it preordered, and when I finally recieved that gold cartridge I was absorbed for the next two weeks. It was my favourite game for many years and I played through it numerous times. I still remeber every nook and cranny after all these years, something I only realised once I revisited it on VC. In retrospect though, I now believe that Mario 64 was more ground breaking. Great memories of that game too, alongside many other N64 games for that matter...

I remember, it was a Christmas mourning. I open up on of my gifts and there it was. After I was done opening my gifts I went up stairs to my room to play it. I remember playing the very first dungeon. It was so awesome.

im actually doing a speech for my public speaking class on why zelda: oot is the best single player game ever

I was 10, and at the time I had absolutely no idea what the Legend of Zelda was.

I got the game for Christmas, 1998.  I remember opening my last present, and in the box was this game with the name "Zelda" in big letters across the front. I immediately thought, "What the hell? Isn't Zelda a girls name?"

I was pretty disappointed at the thought of getting a game that catered to girls, but I opened it up and popped it in my N64 anyway. I watched the intro video, climbed out of my tree house in the Kokiri forest, and was immediately hooked.

That has to have been one of the greatest days of my life.

I rented a N64 for that game and beat it in one sitting. I do not remember how long it took me since i played it around launch. But i have since replayed it and master quest many times.

First time you walk out into Hyrule field was a defining moment as is when you finally finished it completly.

I sort of remember my first time with OoT, it's really bits and pieces like the first time going into each dungeon, using specific items, etc. I remember my first time with LttP a bit more clearly, but that's probably because it's a much better game than OoT in every shape and form of every second of every day for eternity, period. The strangest thing was that I had had pickle chips for the first time while playing LttP, so everytime I taste pickles I get the urge to play Zelda games...
