Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Upgraded my Xbone with a 5TB external HDD

I was getting tired of always having to delete something in order to install a new game. So I decided to slap a 5TB External HDD on top of my Xbone. I chose this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J0O5R2I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It works straight out of the box, plug and play. A quick format and it was ready to go. Transferring games over is pretty quick too. My only gripe is that you have to go to each game one by one and transfer them.

I would have went with the 8TB one, but that bad boy is expensive and not a good value.

Anybody else add an external HDD to their Xbone? How's it working out for you?

nice! 5 tb would last a long time for me! Im stil trying to fill of the 500 gb it came with ;P

I don't think I could deal with my consoles taking up more space, I'll always pick upgrading the internal if that's an option. (Damn you WiiU!)

But that should be big enough to last you the generation no problem!

Atleast.... you'd hope.

I don't have an Xbox One...but I did buy a 2 TB external and then remove the HDD itself and put it in my PS4. Took me maybe 15 minutes from taking the HDD out of the box to when the PS4 was good to go again.

Really no idea why Sony or Microsoft thought 500 gigs was going to be enough...

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Why 5 tb? Do you rent games (I mean digitally purchase them)? Get the retail version.

Manditory downloads, digital and retail versions are the same size. Though 5 tb still seems excessive.

That sure is a lot of porn

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

I find this incredibly hilarious.

I have 3 HDD for my 360s. I have a 320 GB which filled up quick. I have 2 500 GB HDDs. One is full and the other is half way.  I just pop the HDDs out and swap if the game I want to play is on another HDD. I splurge on games when they are on sale and This gen I will probably do the same.

I've also recently ugraded my PS3 HDD and that one is 1TB. Half way full already. PS+ keeps giving me free games and I love it.

I've grown to hate swapping discs and only buy collectors editions, which I don't play and buy digital when they are on sale. Considering each retail game needs to be installed and file sizes may be around 20 GB per game, with Indie games smaller. I can probably get around 300-400 games on this 5TB HDD
