Forums - Sales Discussion - Playstation digital Sales must be huge.

I am sure they are not small, but PS Cash cards have been purchased in large doses for a long time due to:

1. Delays in bringing them out in Europe, leading to large pent up demand.

2. Sony's perceived appalling ability to protect your credit card details.

What are you talking about we have Cards in EU and have for years.

I don't know how VGChartz will adapt its tracking. By the end of this gen most game sales on the PS4/XBox One will be digital. It's a big blind spot for VGC right now.

I dunno about the that, I just don't see this happening and I feel that the presence of digital downloads on consoles is highly overstated especially on forums like these. Most of the world and plenty of areas in america cringe at the thought of downloading 40 gig games to tiny hard drives.

I for one have no idea how long it will take for me to donwload the 20 gig Master Chief Collection content, probably over a full day. There will still be a strong presence of physical media at the end of this gen I beleive.

It doesn't matter whether you buy a disc or download, the entire game is still installed on the hard drive.

With the ability of pre-purchase, you can purchase ahead of time and have the game ready for you on the release date.

I have gone all digital with this gen because it is nice to just be able to jump into a game without switching discs.

The fact that you thought cards not being available in EU years ago had some kind of effect on fantastic card sales today. Even if you didnt realise this was US only thread. there is still no correlation as they have been easily avalable in EU for many years now.

Look at top sellers for October. $10, $20, $50 & $100 are all in the top 6. Sony is absolutely winning with digital cash. There is no way people are not buying a lot digital be it full games or DLC. I think people are under estimating digital.

form ubisoft:
digital attachrate for watch_dogs about 10% on next gen with slightly more to 11% for xbox one and to 10% for ps4

from ea:
digital attachrate varies for diffrent games and different regions (usa as example is high attachrate compared to other territories) attachrate for next gen 10 - 15%
ufc as example more to the higher, than lower number

source is both theire investor conference call
but the arcade and indi games digitial attachrate is big ofc. just look at the minecraft numbers. 7m+ on xb live

Does anybody know if there's an unofficial PSN ales chart, like the one on Gamasutra for XBL titles?

I'd love to see how well games like Journey are estimated to have sold? Also Mega Man 9 & 10, etc....

You are mistaken. At no point did I assert that. I simply said that for a long time there was pent up demand being relieved on the EU Amazon stores.

And to this moment, nothing in the OP says anything about this being US-specific. The US site was just used as an example!
