Forums - Sales Discussion - Can Xbox One come Close to PS4 this Holiday??

Now you just want to get close to PS4, not even get past it in sales? and only in the USA? oh no worldwide as you include Russia and China...

Nope, I think you are right that Sunset Overdrive seems nice, FH2 seems pretty good too... but the kids who begged for a console all year asked for a PS4, because it's the better console... by the time they learn about these games the ship will have sailed and they'll be playing Blooborne or Far Cry 4... etc. whatever kids play these days on their shiny new PS4.

I am not even sure the 100k units sold day 1 in China will make the XB1 sell more than the PS4 this week! (however it may happen, 100k units is more than the sales difference on some weeks.. add FH2 thats released today and you may see the XB1 on top for 1 week, worldwide).

it will definitely be close in the us and uk. China will have a good impact as well. With all of the other countries getting in on the x1, it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out.
All in all, both shall do well this holiday.
And if microsoft does indeed have a price cut in mind for the holidays and beyond, it'll be good.

I think Sony can afford to drop the price at anytime without losing profits to keep the lead.

Sony can afford to do that and microsoft can't?

If I'm not mistaken, sony is the one who's heavily depending on the ps4 profits to boost the company.  Microsoft, on the other hand, does not depend on the xbox brand at all for their profits, so Microsoft is the one that's more likely to do a heavy price cut to move the consoles they need to.

MS situation is good and linear about this, Sony's one is more complicated: as you correctly wrote, their company's heavily depending on its few profiting divisions, so Sony could decide a cut, not to react to MS, but if their predicted increase in HW sales, and so in SW ones, would be large enough to at least make up for and possibly exceed decreased profits on HW only.

"Xbox One is beating the PS4 in the UK right now forcing Sony to cut the price of their console."

is one week and the price cut was not a reaction.

"Xbox One had a successful launch in China and looking to have 100k+ opening week."

let wait and see when PS4 launches there.

"Xbox One will have more than 15K opening week in Russia"

Why is this in the facts section? is an speculation.

"Forza horizons is a great game!"

So was titanfall.

Your threads are so absurd.

I think both will have a healthy holiday in US and UK, but PS4 will clearly have the edge WW, by a good margin..

by the end of the season i see 6.5m for PS4 (Oct., Nov., Dec.) and 4m for the XB1

No need to let me figure out things.  If you think I'm mistaken, please go ahead and let me know.  I'm fairly rational and open-minded about these things.
