Forums - Gaming Discussion - The story of my gaming life

When I was 4, I had very little gaming experience. Only playing consoles at my parents friends houses. I don't remember what those consoles were. But on Christmas eve 2004, I got my first gaming console. It was the Gameboy Advance sp

I played with the Gameboy Advance amost every day. This was the first console I owned.
Then about 2005, I had 2 friends that lived close to me. One of them had an Xbox and GameCube. The other one had a PS2.
Me and my sister both loved these consoles. She didn't go to the friends house that had GameCube and Xbox so I wanted a GameCube but she wanted a PS2, so we just asked if we could have a gaming system. Our mom said no! We were dissapointed. but we just went to our friends house to go play them.
At Christmas 2008, I recieved a limited edition Nintendo DS Lite with the Mario emblem on it bundled with New Super Mario Bros.
My sister didn't want one for some reason, even though around that time her GBA SP broke. (she had one too btw, it was silver)
I got many games for my DS that year such as Mario Kart DS.
In November 2009, our mom said it would be okay for us to get a home console. We were excited, I wanted a Wii and she wanted a PS3. I didn't like PS3 and I loved the Wii since my aunt had one during 2008. Games that were fun like Wii Sports and Mario Kart Wii. My sister said she didn't like the motion controls. Then on a Mortal Kombat Armmagedon video, she saw the Wii had a classic controller. So she went along with me with the Wii. And we got even more excited when the commercial came on for New Super Mario Bros. Wii, I loved the one on the DS so I knew multiplayer would be amazing. On Christmas morning we saw the Wii siting there. We both were so excited to finally have our own system! We got 11 games the first day we had a Wii.
In 2010, I heared about the DSi, I wanted one because of the camera and all the cool new features. So I got one. I'm glad I did because my DS Lite can't play DS games but can play GBA games.
2011 was a big year for me, for my birthday I finally owned a GameCube and for Christmas I got the 3DS.
Back at E3 2011, they announced the Wii U. It looked kinda cool. Then E3 2012 it looked awesome. So I wanted one. I asked for a Wii U but my sister wanted a Xbox 360 because the Kinect. I kept telling her the Kinect sucks but she wouldn't listen. Then she finally just gave up and let me get the Wii U.
I was so happy to get a Nintendo console so close to launch! I'm enjoying my Wii U right now. The online is great, the graphics look beautiful, and most important of all, the games are outstanding.
So that's my story of my gaming life. And i'm a Nintendo Fan because i've owned Nintendo consoles almost as long as I can remember.
Thanks for reading!

You seems to be already very involved with Nintendo, so you must enjoy it a lot too, and that's cool =)
but you should really try some other consoles that are not made by Nintendo, you are missing so much great games.

All my friends have the other systems. I like 360 and dislike PS3. and I don't know anyone who owns a PS4 or XB1 yet. Just played the demos for PS4 and XB1.

Oh, you dislike the PS3 =/, and why is that?
You should try some other Nintendo older consoles too, all 3 three before the GameCube are great, SNES in special.
Maybe some Sega old consoles could please you too.

I have tried all of those. I left some stuff out. I have quite a bit of games on the VC on Wii. I have NES, SNES, N64, and my friend practically lets me own in N64. And why do I dislike PS3? Because it didn't offer a lot of games that i'm intrested in. It was a good console but there wern't many games that were fun to me. I'm a weird person so... thats why

Ha ha funny GBA SP was one of my first consoles along with the Xbox

Will try and match your story with one of mine. Started a lot earlier than you though.

  1. My first stab at proper gaming (not those one off handhelds that basically had one game on it) was with this. An Amstrad. It used cassette tapes. You guys think loading times are bad now? Its games took an average of 23mins to get to the title screen!!! Got it in 1988, an uncle got it for my older brother and I. I was 7 at the time.
  2. My next and first true console was the NES. I ended up getting two of them cause my mum bought one from the UK with two games, and then my dad went to the states and bought like ten games, but they wouldn't work! Damn region locks to hell, so we had to wait 6 months for when next he was going to the states to buy another NES. Which we stupidly plugged into our outlet and fried the console, so we waited another 6 months for another one. This was in 1989-1990. Got introduced to MGS and Zelda and megaman, double dragon.....
  3. Next up, was the super nintendo. All I remember was walking into our upstairs living room sometime in 1992 and hearing SHO RYU KEN!!! before i could even see the screen. I was in love. New console, mind blowing graphics, and the people on the screen looked like human beings!!! OMG!!!!!, also got my taste of final fight, turtles in time, cybernator and contra 3!!! This was when i became an all out true gamer, we all had our own controller that we would carry with us if going to vist other friends to play SF or MK. Can't have yourself losing due to a faulty pad. :)
  4. I sampled a couple of platforms. At some point or time there were consoles like the megadrive, 3DO, Philips CDi (burn cycle baby!!!) and the jaguar, we didnt actually buy any of them, but back then people swapped consoles a lot. Then it happened... was visiting in the states in xmas 1995, super bitter about hearing of a delay of the awesome nintendo 64 (ultra 64), then one day on Tv i saw a commercial. Can't remember shit from it, but I rememebr these words "U r not re D". And that was it, ended up with this baby. And the games i ended up getting are too many to list. But i got every single popular game for the system, even some of the not so popular ones. I still ended up getting the N64 though, couldn't pass up on golden eye and ocarina of time. But the PS1 was my primary console. First nintendo did me over by delaying the N64, then they created the PS by doing sony over.

  5. The rest isn't too interesting, From this point on I got every Playstation console at launch. PS2, PS3 and PS4. never bought another nintendo console, got an original xbox and a 360 which i had for 8 months or so before it red ringed and i never bothered to get another one. Whats funny is that i never owned a handheld, in 2008 I did buy a PSP while at the airport cause i got bored during a very very long layover, butwhen i got to wheer i was going i ended up never even putting it on.

The only consoles that I never played at home either e it a loaned one or something, was the gamecube and the wii and so far the wiiU and the XB1. And this is the first generation where I may end up having only one console. Maybe.... just maybe, I get a wiiU for zelda....

You should try playing a Playstation or Xbox console.

It's ok to have your tastes, that doesn't make you weird at all =)
But I just can't see what the 360 have that the PS3 don't that you find fun.
I can definitely see what you can find in Nintendo that you find fun and the others don't have, but the 360 and the PS3 are a lot alike.

Yes PS3 and 360 are alike. but I liked the controllers, online, and it just felt better to me. I hate how you have to pay on the 360 though.

Plus PS3 almost ruined my chance to  have the Wii. I do think the Wii was a dissapointment for the exclusives but some are still fun and my sister wanting a PS3 almost made me miss out on all the Nintendo games on Wii.

why did you get a gamecube if you already had a wii?
