I've recently started blogging and writing about videogames. Recently I got a couple posts promoted on venturebeat.com's gamesbeat and that was cool, especially when I apparently won a little contest they had as well. Thanks to that, I recently had something kind of exciting happen which makes me want to try and expand the audience of the things I write.
It was at that moment it hit me. I have no f*cking clue how to promote myself effectively. I've been posting to some forums and linking to my posts when relevent or when I have a topic I make that's relevent to something that I've written about before. I thought about going for it and building up your typical giant list of strangers on facebook or twitter, but I feel kinda awkward whoring myself out like that and worry it might be more of an annoyance to potential readers than a draw.
Does anyone know of some other ways to promote yourself that don't involve plastering your stuff everywhere to what may be an annoying degree?
Not promoted but way more popular than the others.
I also feel like my writing abilities are getting stronger ever day so that's pretty cool. If anyone looks at some of my older posts on my blog then the newer ones, they would probably notice a lot of advancement over a short time. That's possibly a product of my interest in posting becoming stronger. Should I go back and edit them to look better?
