Forums - PC Discussion - Steam Summer Sale 2014 (Last Day)

Ugh I'm having withdrawals now that the summer sales over ;(

Around the Network

Welp, another sale comes to a conclusion, as many people's wallets are currently recovering, unknown whether or not they'll survive.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Sale took a pretty big hit out of my wallet lol.

At least I now have allot of games I never have got to play over the next few months.

I didn't get anything in the end. I don't understand why people buy games they know they don't have the time to play.
Probably spend a lot next summer sale though as I'll likely have a new laptop capable of newer games.

I looked into it too thinking it might let me design a transport system... as far as I can tell though the whole game is just driving trains, the only reason I can think of for the games popularity is that this guy bought multiple copies:

From the amount of negative reviews by users about Train Simulator and the legendary amount of DLC I think it's a safe bet that everyone should avoid it.

It's supposedly for train enthusiasts. So if you aren't one of those, it isn't aimed at you. But if you are, this is apparently a great way to not spend thousands of dollars on an actual train set (assuming you are only buying the DLC for trains you want). Those things can get crazy expensive.

Me being a train enthusiast or not has nothing to do with why I do not recommend the game. The game has an overall negative reception because it's expensive, and unfinished along with the developers flat out refusing to fix issues wrong with the game. There are better trains sims alternatives avaliable on Steam.

There is quite a bit of base content, you don't need the $3892.26 of DLC.
I bought it in a Steam sale 3 years ago and keep getting updates every year. They have broken more than fixed though. Steam engines (only ones that involve a bit of attention while playing) have been broken for years now, some just lose steam no matter what you do. Back then you also had free add ons, maybe there still are but I haven't touched it for a long time. It was fun messing around with the scenario editor for a while, setting up a couple of mile long trains on a collision course. Or going on 2 wheels around the corner playing with the physics engine.

It can be relaxing just watching the landscape scroll by, bit like an interactive screensaver. Not much different from flight simulator. If you want something even more laid back there is always ship simulator. Most fun simulator atm is euro truck simulator 2.

Well, now that the sale is over, I look at my purchases and see that I only got 4 games for a grand total of 17.80 €, and Saints Row IV (+Season Pass) was already 12.48 €.

In the end, while this sale hasn't been a bad it has been a bit lacking. I dont know how to express it (or if it's just me who feel that way), but it feel like they haven't gone all for it.

Please excuse my bad English.
