By the way, for anyone saying this is an anime style: I thought anime was popular in the West? ;)

Anime is niche in the west, it's just that that niche community is really vocal on the internet. Most of my friends don't care for anime, and have no interest in trying it. They don't see what the difference is between anime and western cartoons, other than the fact that anime is in Japanese.

Dragonball, Pokémon, Naruto, One Piece, Digimon (in the past), Bleach are far from niche. Just look at how popular the Legend of Aang/Korra is. Yes, I know, it's not an anime because it is not made in Japan, but it takes a lot of inspiration from anime and is animated in South Korea if I remember correctly.

Dragonball hasn't been popular for a while, and even when it was it wasn't as popular compared to western cartoons. Pokemon the anime is slanted towards children under ten, and thus tends to be out of Zelda's prospective audience. Naruto isn't even that popular anymore, that craze wore off soon after Shippuden started, and many of the Naruto fans never bothered with anime again. Digimon: See Pokemon. Bleach has also lost much of its audience, and wasn't really all that popular in the first place. Avatar TLA is anime style, yes, but still not as popular as you would think.

Even the animes that did the best in the west (Dragonball Z, Naruto, Avatar) paled in popularity compared to things like Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, etc.

The first season of the Legend of Korra was the most watched cartoon in the USA during that period. ;)

And my point is that all those animes were once popular in the West, so there's no reason why anime can't be popular right now.

The fact that Dragonball has remained this popular, even though the series ended many years ago (not counting GT, that was shit), is a testimony to how well received animes are in the West.

For its week it was. Overall, though, traditional cartoons still overshadow it in terms of fanbase. 2.6 million viewers on average for Korra is good, but out of those 2.6 million people how many are just kids who don't care about games like Zelda? 2.6 million also doesn't compare to the viewership of "realistic" fantasy like Game of Thrones (18.4 million).

Don't get me wrong, anime is getting more popular, but it still remains relatively niche. Even the most popular anime today don't hold a candle to realistic shows.

Also, Dragonball hasn't really gotten more popular, the old fans just love talking about it. New viewership is relatively low.

we will probably know if your right by the end if the Wii's life assuming if Nintendo releases a second Zelda that has a darker art style by that time

It averaged 3.7 million viewers for its first season (excluding re-runs and digital downloads), there's not many cartoons that beat that. Besides, I don't think Zelda U looks like an anime.

What I meant was that Dragonball has remained popular enough to be well known, even though the series ended years ago. Of course there are still the occasional movies, but those don't really count.

I'll give you that, but people aslo still talk about Spongebob and Dexter's and such. Doesn't mean that they would all like a cartoon game.

I guess we'll just agree to disagree though. It's all good.

Well, if your best point is just telling me I'm wrong, I suppose we really should end it. I'm not going to start a flame war over Zelda visuals.

Yeah, let's just be clear. Me saying "You're wrong" isn't me supporting my argument. Me telling you "you're wrong" is me concluding my argument. I don't feel like argueing with you again about Zelda's visuals, because it will never end and I have better things to do than try and convince you of something you'll never be convinced of.

Alright. Works for me. You're entitled to your opinion.

And you yours.

Skyward sword was in 480p in 2011 with mandatory motion controls while the hardcore had turned their back on those already. If it had been brown and realistic looking like TP it would not have sold any better, might even have sold less.

Windwaker is my favorite, only one that still looks good (thanks to the HD version) Looks like the WiiU Zelda will be my new favorite.
