What do you mean? At least several hundreds of civilian casualties confirmed in Donetsk/Luhansk from May till now...

Yes, and it's a warzone. Fighting is taking place where normal civilians live. Caualtites are to be expected. Even in conflicts such as the Gulf war, which was handled very quickly, there were also many civilian casualties. Most of the time, civilan casualties are accidental. There are exceptions, but generally, most leaders of a country don't even have to read Sun Tzu's The Art of War to understand that percecuting the civilain population of conquered territory is a bad idea.
Personally, I think both the West and Russia need to stay away from Ukraine. Ukraine should be allowed to decide it's own future without outside influence. The West could care less about what happens in Ukraine. They just want to spread their political sphere of influence. Likewise, Russia does not care about Ukraine at all. Like the West, they also want to spread their political sphere of influence and they want Ukraine to serve as a gap between Russia and the Western democracies. It's like North Korea and China. China doesn't care about North Korea. The only reason they support North Korea is just so South Korea, a staunch US ally will not border with China. If it were at all possible, China would prefereblly sink North Korea's landmass into the ocean just so they wouldn't have to deal with them anymore while still retaining some distance from the South.
Between the US, European Union, China, and Russia, they just serve as kings and queens on a chess board while the smaller countries are nothing but the pawns.
