What do you say? Do we have a deal?"

Pretty pitiful to see Sony fans attacking MS over this. Everybody rejects games for various reasons, Sony too as Kresnik mentioned.

I really wish this community would grow up already ...

I wish the community would've grown up 7 years ago, but I find it hilarious that people are calling for peace now that Microsoft isn't in the dominant position.  By the way, that's not necessarily intended as a shot at you.  I don't know you and I've not paid attention to your behavior over the past 7 years, but you have to admit, this kind of BS back and forth was highly popular when the PS3 suffered launch issues, and everyone and their mother took shots at Sony for it, and Microsoft most certainly encouraged it.   You have to admit, it's highly ironic to have those same people calling for peace, now that Microsoft isn't in the drivers seat.

Well I am 7 years older than then (though I've only been a member since 2008) and also 7 years more sick of tired of this childish behavior no matter what side it's coming from.  Maybe I'm just too old for these communities.  I saw a thread on neogaf where someone was asking how many remember the old Centipede commercial for the 2600 and most responses were people saying they weren't even born yet.  Yeah ...

I just dont understand this. I mean are you Mitt Romney "corperations are people"? You are really upset (and surprised) by entering a thread which the entire premise is about how MSFT passed on this game....to find out people commenting/joking about MSFT passing on the game.....which Phil Spencer admits publically was a mistake........to find people here commenting on the mistake in non MSFT PR speak and then getting offended.

I'll tell you what I am sick of. People entering threads with topics they dont like or are sensitive to and then acting surprised that the thread, accurately titled, is talking about the subject they already know (and the world knows) they are sensitive to.

It's like an alcoholic entering a bar and telling the people drinking they need to stop drinking, acting all surpised at whats taking place in the bar cause hes just there for the peanuts.

And honestly, not to get into a pissing contest (but getting into a pissing contest) check the chronological posts. I see Jaywood showing up and phantom trying to bait people even though I think their posts were applicable and topical and a simple discussion ensued regarding the dev. I really dont even see ANYONE attacking MSFT until you came in calling everyone "sony fans" and belittling the thread telling everyoen to grow up. *holds door open

On topic. I missed out on Dont starve when it was free on PS+, and I have a lot of friends playing rust having a blast, seems like this is a great concept. I like the mention of tower defense. I just worry it will be an average jack of all trades without anything done compelling enough. Does anyone know if there is a persistant online world with interactions amongst other players?

I guess it was between this and Lococycle.

Ahahaha, that was just cruel man!

Anyways, talk about dropping the ball on this one! I only saw one video of Rime but it looked pretty fantastic.

To be fair, there have been more than a few Xbox fans who have claimed that Xbox is the best platform for FPS games. That doesn't necessarily mean Xbox has more of them overall but I'm sure you can see where it becomes a little confusing to some when they keep hearing "Xbox is the THE platform for FPS fans!".

I agree. I think having an identity is a good thing. It's not as if its been detrimental to the Xbox brand. I would argue it has helped it. In my opinion, its what made the 360 so successful: identity. Also what the One lacks at this point, in my opinion. I like being able to buy a product for a specific reason, consoles are no different.

So when do we start the 'Rime is overhyped' threads?

Yeah, I'm seven years older and I find it difficult to be calling people out for things that were being done to them over the past 7 years.  Turnabout is fairplay, after all.  So, in the future, now that everyone's had the pleasure of having their noses rubbed in it, maybe we can be a tad more civil.  Until that time, I'm opening the popcorn and watching with no small amount of amusement.

Because it's not turnabout, it's arrogance run amok again with a heaping of online bullying.

I really didn't want to go here with this, but since memories are so fuzzy for folks it should be clarified.  In summer 2005, when the 360 was revealed and the relatively small contingent of MS fans were excited about it, Sony (the company) and it's extremely large fanbase (see PS2 sales numbers) did everything in their power to minimize it.  Using target renders that were 4 years from being somewhat realized, hyperbolic rhetoric and demeaning insults (Dreamcast 2 anyone?), Sony and it's fanbase tried to bury the 360.  And it failed.  For a couple of years, it looked really bad for Sony with the PS3 and there was some posturing on the part of fanboys that changed loyalties (such a ridiculous notion, but whatever ...) and Sony and it's fanbase was the victim of similarly insulting talk that we're seeing now.  It wasn't as widespread, as the MS fanbase wasn't as prevalent or vocal (e.g. see DMC3 being multiplatform backlash), but it was still there and it was immature and embarassing.  BUT the key difference between that situation and what we see now is that it all started with a company and a fanbase arrogantly trying to bully an underdog and the tables got turned.

We are not seeing that this time around.  This is the same fanbase arrogantly trying to bully a (relative) underdog and as of now it's not changing.  I can't deal with a whole gen of this stuff again, so I'm involved less and less but I still find it necessary to point out how ridiculous, immature and embarassing it is for gamers to communicate like this.  It's not in good fun and does nothing constructive.
