Forums - Sony Discussion - Which battery should I buy for my PSP?

I have a PSP-2000, with the original battery I would assume. It lasts for about 5 hours of gameplay, so I am not pleased, haha.

I searched a bit and found a lot of different batteries for the PSP, but some says "do NOT use with PSP slim" etc. so I am worried I will buy the wrong battery for my PSP.

For example I found this one: http://shop.01media.com/info.asp?ProductID=33708&agentCurrID=159

But it seems like it won't work with PSP-2000, right? And perhaps it's a very bad battery.

So, could some nice person point me to a link where I can find a better battery that you know will work for a PSP-2000?

I want to find as good battery as possible. So the best one that works for me. Thanks! :)

You need something like this;

You can have smaller ones though as well. Like the 2400Mah one. Just be sure to read some reviews, or watch them on youtube before you get one.

Thanks!

But I guess you haven't tried it yourself?

What is the original battery in the PSP-2000, is it 1800mAh? I opened up my PSP and it said it's a 1200mAh.

So by using simple math I would get about 8-10 hours of gameplay with a 2400mAh battery, since I have 5 hours now.

The PSP 2000 is a lot slimmer so the battery meant for the PSP 1000 would not fit with the battery cover. Though I believe you can still use the battery meant for the 1000.

Thanks guys, I went to the local game shop but they didn't have any better batteries, only the 1200mAh, but they had an "emergency recharger" thing that I put on the outside of the PSP, 2400mAh, so I bought that one.

Also I ordered two real batteries from the web, one was 2400mAh(copy/no-brand) and the other one was a 1800mAh(Sony), which I think is the PSP-1000 battery.

So I will try them out and see if they are any good or better than my original.

The original 1200mAh battery + the 2400mAh "emergency recharger" gave my PSP about 12-14 hours of gameplay. I had the emergency recharger plugged in from the start, and it showed me I still had 100% battery power left after 8 hours. Sometime after that I suppose the original battery kicked in and worked for about 4-5 hours as usual.

So 8-9 hours extra is what the "emergency recharger" gave me. Should I be satisfied or not?

It should be very good although unless you're traveling, a bigger battery would've been better i think.

Why do you hate recharging so much though? I mean i don't like it either, but it's not that big of a deal!

Yeah I think it's okay, 12 hours.

Haha, well I don't really hate recharging, but at the moment there is a very slow time at work, and I have almost nothing to do. So I bought a PSP to play games and watch movies for 8 hours until my shift is over. And the original battery was empty after 4-5 hours, so I just wanted to add more hours to my PSP.

But 12 hours are more than enough.
