I did'nt see another thread on here about this and for a gaming sales site, it seemed like a pretty big deal. Alot of it comes back to the conversions that have been going on, on this site for a while now debating whether software or hardware sales or more important. It has no doubt been a struggle for the Wii U in terms of console sales but Nintendo has been able to move over 7 million units of unbundled 1st party software. On top of this the 3DS has moved arround 75 million units of 1st party software, and most of that is software that was not bundled with the hardware. Sony's situation right now quite honestly is a mess. The PS4 so far has been a massive success, but it's pretty much been the only success in a sea of failures. Only a few years ago they were one of the top 2 TV companies, now their TV's are selling terribly. Their home appliances are being outsold by multiple competitors. Their marketshare in the smartphone market is also pretty much non-existent. The Vita has found a way to move over 7 million consoles, but Sony has only been able to sell about 4.8 million 1st party games (Pokemon has almost doubled their entire 1st party Vita lineup on its own....in 3 months). The PS3 console wise was a success, but Sony only moved about 95 million 1st party titles, and alot of those were bundled with consoles. The bottom line is that Nintendo,Sony, and Microsoft are lucky to break even on their console sales, and the only reason why console sales are important is that it gives the company a greater chance at moving their software. I do want Sony to turn it arround, because quite honestly after going through 3 Xboxes last gen, and just being fed up with Microsofts business practices, I would much rather give my money to Sony, but it's a tough decision to make knowing that their company is in a financial situation similar to Segas towards the end.
