Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I Think Zelda U Will Come Out Around This Time Next Year

I predict we'll SEE Zelda U next year...either in a Nintendo Direct early in 2014 or else at E3 at the very latest. However, I think they'll announce at E3 that, "we need a little more time before it's ready...please understand this situation," and tentatively give it a Spring 2015 release window. Then, much time will pass without a peep and then come E3 2015, they'll finally show an update on the title and announce that it's been delayed to Holiday 2015, where it will indeed release on the last Sunday before Thanksgiving in November 2015.

To the OP, were it to come out November 2014, I would be overjoyed...though given that they'll likely have X, Yarn Yoshi, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Bayonetta 2, and possibly Super Smash Bros. (Sakurai tends to delay just like the Zelda team in favor of polish and quality assurance) all as potential 2nd-half 2014 games, I think I'd rather they took the extra time on it anyway to really make it something special.

I totally agree. Nintendo's track record shows that there is often at lest one significant delay for their majour releases.

I love My Wii U, and the potential it brings to gaming.

Your analysis looks pretty good. Concretely, it would havre to be announced on December 2014 Nintendo Direct cause if they wanted to announce it in June 2013 before changing their mind, 6 months later sounds great. If not, it will be in February Nintendo Direct, or at least E3 2014, but I hope before. A lot of expectations for this Zelda, can't wait. And I'm afraid to be disappointed, don't know why.

Yoshi's the best of the beasts

I think there is a good chance it's coming in 2014. I think that's the plan, but it may slip to 2015. At least X is coming, regardless.

Look at how long Skyward Sword took, an SD game. Look at how long a HD remaster took.

A new Zelda is going to take Nintendo forever.

SS did take waayy to long.  WWHD is irrelevant though, that game was done by like 3 people.

Nintendo only has so much internal staff for Zelda games. Since the primary focus is on finishing up A Link Between Worlds, and Wind Waker must have taken a certain amount of resources to be remade, although probably less than 20 people, we're still talking about both of those projects taking staff from what could have been a larger team making only the Wii U Zelda this whole time. I'd say it's 2015. I'll bet the game is still early in development. 2014's big holiday game will be Smash Bros. Believe it.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

I don't see it happening, you can't compare it to the past Zelda games because this is the first HD Zelda and will take way longer to make, not to mention it has the biggest development team in the history for NIntendo so they knew it was gonna take a long long time, and they had to hire more people.  I think 2015 is the earliest we will get it.

My hope is november 2014.

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Remember that Iwata said that they were seriously considering revealing Zelda U in this year's E3 Direct, so clearly it's advanced to a point in development at least as far as X, and that the only reason they decided to hold off was to not overshadow WWHD or Link Between Worlds.
