I got a 3DS...

Ace Attorney is definitively the way to go.

Also, try Virtue's Last Reward. If you missed 999 on the DS, you can try it too.

You also have Liberation Maiden, an E-Shop release.

You ever play Animal Crossing? It is a pretty relaxing game which allows you to progress at whatever pace you choose.

If you have poor vision then it is hard to see the 3D.  I have trouble seeing the 3D with my contacts out even though I can read up close without correction.  So I only use the 3D effect if I am wearing corrective lenses.

No, but I liked what I saw, will get. Especially for Isabelle.

Wait, you missed out on the original DS? That means there's, like, a gajilliion games you could catch up on now.

Yep. I heard of a lot good RPG's so I'm very interested on the DS library.

Zelda is always a good bet. Link Between Worlds isn't out yet so I can't exactly recommend it, but it's Zelda, c'mon you know it's gonna be great.

Ocarina of Time is Ocarina of Time so I think you can decide on that one for yourself.

If you've never played the GBC Zeldas, Link's Awakening has the better story but the two Oracle games have more refined gameplay and presentation. All three are excellent.

But first of all, just like me, you skipped the entire DS generation. You have some catching up to do. Especially if you're interested in Ace Attorney 5... I strongly recommend you play through Ace Attorney 1-3 and Apollo Justice first.

Sounds good.  You can join us on the New Leaf thread at http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=161240&page=1#

The thread is a little slow now due to the game being out for awhile but I still post in it (going to try and keep the thread going for awhile).  I can help you get your town started by providing you with exotic fruit (fruit not native to your town) and furniture.  There are other people in the thread that can help you out also.  It is pretty fun visiting other people's towns considering there is a lot more customization in New Leaf compared to previous Animal Crossings (public works projects).

Don't forget about the numerous quality games on the eshop (especially Nintendo published eshop games).

Which ones?

SteamWorld Dig, Crashmo, Rolling Western, Denpa Men, Night Sky,HarmoKnight there are lots of them

IF you like fighting games, get one of the 4 on thes system, virtues last reward,Project X Zone. Devil Survivor Overclocked also gets my glowing recomendation

Try the Etrian Odyssey Untold and the EoIV demo's on the Eshop as well ( EO;U has better 3D and other things, EOIV shows you the classic gameplay for Eo)

For DS games these are must haves :Ace Attorney/GhostTrick/HotelDusk/999.  TWEWY, Final Fantasy AA tactics, Valkyrie Profile Covenant of the Plume,Chrono Trigger DS, Radiant Historia, SMT Strange Journey, Infinite Space and several others)

If you're gonna get a pokemon game get Heart Gold/Soul Silver

If you get Animal Crossing; be prepared to not play anything else for a good while. It's simply too addictive...
