Forums - Gaming Discussion - UNITY - Nintendo & Wii U Finish The REVOLUTION

Just to let you know from which corner I come from: I have to say I'm a Nintendo fan but I also like my Playstation 2 and 3 and there are/were times I played with them more often than with Nintendo consoles.

Recently, I sat in a crowded bus and I listened to a conversation of two young twens (both male), standing in front of me. They talked lively about (hard)core games (I don't like the divison between "core" and "casual" either but how should we divide if we clearly don't talk about all these Wii Sports, Wii Plays, Zumba Fitness, Kinect Sports, Kinect Adventures, etc.). I thought to myself, they are typical non Nintendo gamer and they would never touch a Nintendo Wii(U), not even for $1 mil.

But then happend the unexpected: One guy suddenly said with excitement: "Have you heard, the new Mario game (of course he meant SM3DW) is out soon?" Then they talked about the Nintendo WiiU and what a great console it is and both were looking forward to buy it. But then came the real shocking moment for me as the same guy who mentioned Mario, concluded: "I really think that the Nintendo WiiU is the best console!" (And of course, he didn't mean it is more powerfull than PS 3 and X-Box 360 but he meant the overall product compared to the current gen and even more so to the other next gen consoles PS 4 and X-Box One). The other guy just nodded in accordance.

To hear this words from a young male (hard)core twen who's favourite games are shooters and other hard action games is truly inspiring. I think the real problem the Nintendo WiiU has is that many (hard)core gamer like him have a secret love for the Nintendo WiiU but don't dare to speak it out because they fear to get laughed at by their friends. All these guys will secretly by a Nintendo WiiU without making noise about it which costs important mouth to mouth advertisement. But luckily, the integrated communication system in the Nintendo WiiU (were you can appear anonymious) as well as time itself will solve that problem.

"secret love" ... that's a kinda interesting theory...

and about that miiverse: Well, all I can say about it is: genius....

Just played Wind Waker HD a bit and HOLY MOLY this is benefiting very MUCH of it! This incredible tingle-bottle system not only don't let you feel alone in this game, but also let you HELP OTHERS MATERIALLY...think of that minitendo gallery..hey, you can recieve PICS FROM OTHER PLAYERS which can help you to fill the gallery faster if you have luck and find the right bottles...or the other way round of course...if you WANT, you can also send out your photo in MIIVERSE to help OTHERS! I think this is a very GREAT feature!

That's one point how this game is enriched by Wii U...

it also has a very good contribution to IMMERSION...the fact that you can administer your things on the touchscreen in REAL-TIME...for instance, your sailing with the boat and by this time you can look a bit through your treasure maps etc...another example are the items...you grab them DIRECTLY with your hands (fingers) and put them on the buttons....just like you would put your items right out of your bag.....and there's also the gyrosensor which is another great addition!

Man, all those PS360-Gamers out there are missing out on so much...

I'm staying out of the zod thing and just read JL's response in a few weeks.

Meanwhile we have bigger issues, I believe I was wrong.Wii U is nowhere even close to as powerful as PS4/XBO, that is if these comments from EA are true:

http://crave.cnet.co.uk/gamesgear/xbox-one-ps4-are-a-generation-ahead-of-best-pc-says-ea-50011312/

"Both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 are more advanced than the best PC money can buy today, according to EA's chief technology officer Rajat Taneja. "

"...the video game exec claims the new consoles' integrated systems-on-a-chip architecture "unleashes magnitudes more compute and graphics power than the current generation of consoles" and are "a generation ahead of the highest end PC on the market."

Pack it up everyone, it's all over. If EA's correct then there's absolutely no chance for the Wii U now. Nintendo may as well go third party.

Yet, EA is completely unable to match the performance of high end PC version of Battlefield 4 on PS4 and XO?

Old is old, dude.

LOL, why do you suddenly reverse your whole opinion and now even think that Nintendo may go third party only based on an about 5 month old article, are you serious???

You're knocking all your theories, all your analysises and stuff on the head just because of this?! ...

These comments from that EA guy were probably false....dude, this was back then only TWO DAYS after the Xbox One reveal!

Come on, nin10do, look at the present, not at the past!

So you still think it's just as strong as the PS4?

Oh boy, oh boy, you almost got me xD
I knew I couldn't really believe this.....your post seemed just a bit TOO 180! But well you never knows...

Well... this happened.

Games have ben delayed because XBO/PS4 infrastructure has to be redone for both, apparently they are in shambles.
Deadrising 3 features removed because XBO infrastructure is a mess.
You need to keep the PS3 copy of a game for the trade-up program
COD Ghosts at 720p for BOTH PS4 and XBO.
COD Ghosts at 1080p... for Wii U

Last but certainly not least... PS4 Day One Patch removes the on system DRM that was there from the start. Sony has been very, very sly and naughty these last few months.

This mostly seems like nonsense he put out to try to get hits.  Cutting the resolution in half wouldn't somehow fix network problems.  Why were these problems big enough to delay Watch Dogs and Driveclub, but not online centric games like BF4 and CoD?  Not to mention aren't there some MMO's out at launch?

Considering Black Ops 2 was sub HD with frame rate issues on the Wii U, I rather doubt they managed to more than triple the number of pixels they are putting out.

As for the DRM.  Even if we assume it existed and was a last minute decision before E3 to get rid of it, that was still before they had produced a single unit for sale.  Why would it have been included in the production PS4's?  Also I am pretty sure Yoshida said you could play disc based games without ever connecting to the internet.  So what exactly would the DRM be?

Also, why would he get his channel taken down if he revealed his sources?  They would likely be fired, but it wouldn't affect him.  He's acting like he's uncovering some devious government conspiracy and a black helicopter is going to swoop in and take him away.

Most of that proven false, the amount of BS rumours popping up lately is hilarious.

Why are you Nintendo fans here discussing PS4 and Xbox One so passionately? They're going to be a success whether you like it or not. Why are you not concentrating on WiiU???

Talking of which, I see another WiiU game got cancelled today.
