Forums - Gaming Discussion - Next-Gen console games 'have a familiar feel'

And the real reason Nintendo gambled on the gamepad for the Wii U is revealed.

Really, there's not much to say. We've been playing with a TV screen and a controller since the dawn of time. For every generation before this one, the generation-gap provided an opportunity to meaningfully add to gameplay or graphics without changing the controller, but how is this one supposed to? It probably can't.

Around the Network

There's not that many avenues they could really go. Cost is a factor. And people hating on the console is another. They need to keep a balance between *new* and what is expected. Or we end up with the Virtual Boy problem. Windows 8 is another example. It failed the public because it went completely new and alienated who wanted just windows 7, but fix all the issues with that platform. You lost classic windows people. There are new things to each system. But more and more of those things are for non-gaming features.

same old same old - but that is not a bad thing. MGS5 looks amzing, so does titanfall, so does most of the new games. With the PS4 and One - it will be an evolution not a revolution. For the Wii U, i had some new experiences ( Nintendo land and ZombiU) but nothing has been revealed that has completely blown my mind.

Well, I guess Project Spark showed that creation games can be taken to a whole new level next gen. Besides that, open world games will become more seamless and, hopefully, more dense.

so, wii is 8th gen since 2006.
