Oh, I haven't mentioned that there's a Sale on Steam.

STEAM SNEAKS IN A STEALTH SALE

http://www.pcgamer.com/steam-sneaks-in-a-stealth-sale/

There is at this very moment a Steam sale going on. You probably didn't know about it, but that's OK, because it's a stealth sale—the Steam Stealth Sale.

It's not the biggest sale in the history of Steam, but there are some good deals to be had, especially if you're looking to catch up on games you may have missed.

Deus EX, Far Cry, Assassins Creed, Thief, etc.

Already got some of them in my library, the other titles I;d possibly want are from Ubisoft and well those require I install Uplay to run which means buying them and starting them from Steam to Uplay and I've sworn from using that client.

That's the problem with Ubi games. But if the game is cheap enough, I don't mind having to deal with UPlay.

Anyway, lot's and lots of news today. It's not E3, nor are there any game shows, right? Why are there so many news? Today instead of two, there will be three posts with news

THE FLOCK Has Sold 3000 Copies, Didn’t Make Enough Money, Will Get New Content This Halloween

http://www.dsogaming.com/news/the-flock-has-sold-3000-copies-didnt-make-enough-money-will-get-new-content-this-halloween/

The Flock was an interesting game that was plagued by some really awkward and silly issues. While the game was fun, it got repetitive fast and its content did not justify its price tag. Thankfully, Creative Director and Game Designer Jeroen Van Hasselt realized that and shared his opinion about the game’s launch, and what his team will do in order to spark further interest.

THE WITCHER 3: HEARTS OF STONE sends the Taxman after naughty players

http://www.pcgamer.com/the-witcher-3-hearts-of-stone-sends-the-taxman-after-naughty-players/

Abraham Lincoln once said that only three things are certain in life: death, taxes, and idiots mis-attributing quotes on the internet. That second one is represented by The Witcher 3's Hearts of Stone expansion, which sends the Taxman after players that may have used exploits to make a lot of money very quickly.

I know it's not entirely related to PC games but a PC gamer/reviewer none the less involved with PC gaming, Total Biscuit has found that signs of the cancer that was thought to have been beaten have been cited as spots around his liver and as such are apparently not curable or operable with a life expectancy of 2-3 years and he's apparently due to restart Chemo sometime soon.

I feel like we've lost one of the great kind of critics when it comes to PC gaming, I've always looked up to guys like TB when it comes to port reports, PC gaming news in general and generally love listening to him, Jessie, Dodger and Crednor on the co-optional podcast, once he goes it just won't be the same without him =/.

I really hope he manages to live longer than expected though, hopefully they might be able to do something for him in those 2-3 years time.

Sad to hear about Total Biscuit.

In Humble Bundle related news: Humble Capcom Bundle, with games like Strider, Lost Planet 3 and various Resident Evil games; the weekly bundle is Valentine's Day 2, featuring Loren the Amazon Princess, Sakura Spirit and others; and now they have introduced Humble Monthly, pay $12 per month and receive different games, those that subscribe now receive Legend of Grimrock 2.

This week's Steam weekend deals are 80% off on Chivalry: Medieval Warfare and 60% off on Grey Goo, along with free weekend on both titles.

XSEED Games is bringing Xanadu Next, Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus, and Little King’s Story to PC via Steam in western territories in 2016.

Yep, cancer sucks. Let's hope that doctors can find better and more effective treatments and that he can overcome his illness.

Also, consider this an advancement of the news later today.

NVIDIA plans to lock Game Ready drivers behind GeForce Experience registration

http://www.pcworld.com/article/2993272/software-games/nvidia-plans-to-lock-game-ready-drivers-behind-geforce-experience-registration.html

One of the key weapons in Nvidia’s arsenal against AMD is its deluge of Game Ready drivers. Virtually every major PC game release in the past two years has been accompanied by a day one, WHQL-certified Game Ready driver from Nvidia, designed to make the latest and greatest games run wonderfully on GeForce graphics cards. They’re great!

Sometime in mid-December, however, you’ll be able to install Game Ready drivers only via GeForce Experience—and even then only after you’ve registered a verified email address with Nvidia. The drivers you can grab on GeForce.com or via Windows Update will be limited to quarterly releases for bug fixes, new features, security updates and so on. More frequent Game Ready drivers will be GFE-only.

Also, Rhonin the wizard has already said the game deals on Steam this weekend, but the Publisher Weekend Sale features Deep Silver.

http://store.steampowered.com/sale/sale_deepsilverweekend2015/

So it's about Saints Row. And Metro. Oh, and Dead Island. And Risen and Sacred are also involved?

Hmm, they have more games than I thought.

That Nvidia lock, ouch. I'm not really a fan of using Nvidia Geforce Experience as it's honestly done nothing I consider useful or much needed, I know when to update my drivers and love to tweak my games myself and what Nvidia consider "optimal" in terms of their "tweaked settings" (it's not really tweaked just sliding everything to max) aren't really what's really optimal for my system, we can get bad and shitty ports (like AK for instance) and GE will insist what's best for me when really it'll just be worse and that's where the line is drawn for me.

Also while I have good download speed and no caps I do however have crap upload speed so Shadowplay is a complete no for me like every other streaming client or option so that's another reason why I'll never bother with GE.

I'm honestly just not comfortable with how they are so willing to force me to use something they feel is objectively best for me (at this point they may as well claim objectively because subjectivity goes out the window when there's no choice), with this and the 970 fiasco, fuck up and hiding bs with their AK involvement and their latest cards not 100% supporting DX 12 is really making me think on going with the other team when I next need to get a card which probably won't be for a while but I;m still going to consider it, we shouldn't be forced into using software we really don't want to use.

To be honest, none of Nvidia or AMD have full support for DX 12. But you can replace that with the Kepler fiasco during the launch of The Witcher 3.

At the end of the day, this is what happens when a company gets 80% of the marketshare.

Oh, well. I guess that's another thing to consider when deciding which card to get... if Nvidia doesn't rectify and scraps this idea, which still have plenty of time to do until December.
