Apex Legends surpasses 10 million players in just three days
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/apex-legends-surpasses-10-million-players-in-just-three-days/
Apex Legends came out of nowhere and appears to be a really successful free to play title. In just three days, the game has surpassed over 10 million players and has breached 1 million concurrent players.
>> I wonder where those players come from, Fortnite or PUBG?

Axiom Verge is available for free on Epic’s store until February 21st
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/axiom-verge-is-available-for-free-on-epics-store-until-february-21st/
Epic Games and Thomas Happ Games are currently offering for free Axiom Verge on Epic’s digital store. Axiom Verge is an action-platform-exploration game that’s not only created in intricate detail in the style of classics such as Metroid, Contra, and Master Blaster, but uses old-school “glitches” as a gameplay feature.
PC gamers can visit the game’s Epic store page and acquire their free copy. Do note that this free offer will last until February 21st so make sure to get it while you still can (well… that is provided you are interested in it).
>> And it has been crashing for a while as it lacked a file named Steam.xnb .

Thimbleweed Park is the next free game on the Epic Games Store
https://www.pcgamer.com/thimbleweed-park-is-the-next-free-game-on-the-epic-game-store/
If you haven't had the chance to pick it up yet, you're in luck—Thimbleweed Park is the next game to go free on the Epic Games Store for a limited time from February 21 until March 7.
The quirky, point and click murder mystery from the makers of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion is the latest game to go free on the Epic Games Store in a bid to draw in players from other platforms. What Remains of Edith Finch and Subnautica are just two of the games that have already received the treatment and if you haven't had a chance to grab it yet, Axiom Verge is currently free until February 21.

You can now play Supreme Commander 2 in co-op with up to four players
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/you-can-now-play-supreme-commander-2-in-co-op-with-up-to-four-players/
Remember Supreme Commander 2? You know, the strategy game that came out in 2010 and featured A LOT of units on screen? Well, for those three people that still remember and play it, modder ‘purplelf’ released a new mod that allows gamers to play the single-player campaign in co-op mode.
According to the modder, most single-player missions can be played with up to four players, with the exception of Illuminate 6 and Cybran 3 which only support up to three players because they require too many AIs.

This Resident Evil 2 Remake mod brings back the classic UI from the original 1998 game
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/this-resident-evil-2-remake-mod-brings-back-the-classic-ui-from-the-original-1998-game/
Resident Evil 2 fans, here is something really cool for you today. Modder ‘Crazy Potato’ has released a pretty cool mod for Resident Evil 2 Remake that brings back the classic UI from the original 1998 version. This mod hits all the nostalgia notes and is a must-have for all Resident Evil 2 fans out there.
Going into slightly more details, this mod adds a retro Health Bar, classic Save Icons, the classic UI and the classic red “Resident Evil 2” logo. These are subtle changes that will be appreciated by the fans of the original game, so go ahead and download the mod from here.
Another mod that passed under our radar was the Classic Claire Fix mod, that was created by the same modder, and gave Claire her iconic look back. You can download this mod for Claire from here.

Enderal: Forgotten Stories, the Skyrim total conversion mod, goes live on Steam next week
https://www.pcgamer.com/enderal-forgotten-stories-the-skyrim-total-conversion-mod-goes-live-on-steam-next-week/
Jody reviewed the Skyrim total conversion mod Enderal back in August 2016, and liked it quite a bit. It wasn't enough to make Bethesda sweat, but he found it big and beefy, with a high quality of writing and better voice acting than you usually see in fan projects. A Steam page appeared last year, promising to eliminate the hassles involved with installing the mod, and today the developers announced that it will go live on February 14.
Like Skyrim, Enderal is an open world game, but with its own lore and landscapes, completely separate from The Elder Scrolls series. Gameplay has been "overhauled" with new classes, survival mechanics, and "challenging combat," and the Forgotten Stories version on Steam has been expanded with two new "crafting classes," 12 additional side quests and non-linear guild questlines, reworked crafting and spells, and improved performance and stability.
Possibly the biggest attraction is that the Steam release vastly simplifies the process of installing the thing. The original mod had to be downloaded and installed overtop of Skyrim, which is both a little daunting and not terribly convenient if you also want to continue playing Skyrim. Enderal: Forgotten Stories is entirely standalone. As long as you own either Skyrim Classic or Skyrim Legendary Edition—it doesn't have to be installed—you can install and play Enderal.

https://www.dsogaming.com/news/god-eater-3-is-now-available-and-does-not-use-the-denuvo-anti-tamper-tech/
Now here is a pleasant surprise. Bandai Namco has just released God Eater 3 on the PC and contrary to Ace Combat 7, the game does not use the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Now I don’t know why this game does not use it and Ace Combat 7 does, however the key point here is that this particular monster hunting game is not plagued by the controversial anti-tamper tech.

https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/new-world-war-z-gameplay-trailer-showcases-players-vs-players-vs-zombies/

Perhaps because my significant other walked out of the room when I asked her to spend Valentine's Day with me in Fortnite making a very large and powerful rendition of Shaggy out of van-sized bricks, Epic has announced the Share the Love event. It's set to run from February 8 to 27. More than enough time to make that big boy on my own.

Chainsaw wolves to death in this upcoming... train simulator?
https://www.pcgamer.com/chainsaw-wolves-to-death-in-this-upcoming-train-simulator/
As you can see above, the trailer for Trans-Siberian Railway Simulator looks like a trailer for a train simulator. At first. There's a train, some nice sectional views, and interactive first-person controls. That you're apparently smuggling contraband on your train is the first indication there's more to it than being just another train simulator, however. Soon the trailer shows broken windows with snow streaming in, and before you know it the train's operator is on the tracks cutting up a fallen tree and slicing into attacking wolves with a chainsaw.

New Blood Interactive made quite a splash last year with the retro-flavored shooter Dusk, and now it's gearing up to roll out its next project, Amid Evil. It's been available in Early Access for almost a year now, but episode six, The Arcane Expanse, went live today and brought with it a new trailer showcasing "a non-Euclidian dimension of otherworldly design known to drive lesser beings insaaaaane."

Tom Hall would love to make a new Commander Keen game
https://www.pcgamer.com/tom-hall-would-love-to-make-a-new-commander-keen-game/
Commander Keen in Keen Dreams released on Nintendo Switch today, which wouldn't be of much interest to us, if it weren't for that fact that it's prompted series co-creator Tom Hall to jump on reddit. Hall, who developed the game alongside John Carmack and John Romero, had some interesting things to say about efforts to develop new Keen games since the series' last instalment in 2001.

3DMark Port Royal – New official comparison video between TAA and DLSS
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/3dmark-port-royal-new-official-comparison-video-between-taa-and-dlss/
UL Benchmarks has released an official comparison video between the TAA and DLSS techniques that are being used in its latest real-time ray tracing benchmark tool, 3DMark Port Royal. This comparison video showcases the visual improvements that DLSS brings to the table, and we strongly suggest watching it.
As UL Benchmarks noted, this video compares the image quality of TAA and DLSS using a special version of the test that has a unique camera path that hasn’t been shared with NVIDIA. The free camera movement simulates a game where the player can move freely around the environment producing new, unique images that the DLSS model cannot possibly have seen before in its training.

NieR Automata mod released for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and looks incredible
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/nier-automata-mod-released-for-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-and-looks-incredible/
Modders ‘immyneedscake’ and ‘Rektas’ have released a NieR Automata mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. This mod is based on the Nier Automata Armor by dint999 and contains 2B and A2 armor, thus allowing gamers to venture the world of Skyrim with one of the two cyborgs that were featured in NieR Automata.
This mod comes with proper physics a full BodySlide conversion of everything but the wigs and sword. The attention to detail is incredible and I’m pretty sure that a lot of Skyrim and NieR Automata fans will love this mod.
In order to install it, you’ll have to download the mod from here, build the outfit in BodySlide and get them through crafting, AddItemMenu or console command ‘help nier’.

You can now play as Kratos from PS4’s God of War in Skyrim thanks to this amazing mod
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/you-can-now-play-as-kratos-from-ps4-god-of-war-in-skyrim-thanks-to-this-amazing-mod/
God of War and Skyrim fans, here is something for you today. Following our NieR Automata mod for Skyrim Special Edition, today we are presenting you another mod that brings Kratos from the latest Playstation 4 exclusive God of War game to Bethesda’s open-world RPG.
Created by modder ‘PotatoFactory’, this is just a simple character preset for Kratos from the newest God of War game. The preset also has the adjustments for the weapon placement (when they’re sheathed). His Leviathan Axe and the Blades of Chaos are on his back (as it should be), just like in the original game, though you’ll probably have to install Racemenu (duh) and XPMSE for that to work properly.

Resident Evil 3 Reborn aims to faithfully remake a scene from RE3 in Unreal Engine 4 (WIP)
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/resident-evil-3-reborn-aims-to-faithfully-remake-a-scene-from-re3-in-unreal-engine-4-wip/
YouTube’s ‘unknownexe96’ has shared a video, showing a WIP scene from Resident Evil 3 being recreated in Unreal Engine 4. Now while this project is still a Work In Progress, unknownexe96 appears to be willing to release the map to the public once it’s been finished.
Unknownexe96 aims to remake Dario Rosso’s Shelter in 3D. Players will be able to explore it via fixed camera angles, thus giving everyone an idea of what a faithful remake – with fixed camera angles – of Resident Evil 3 could look like.

New comparison screenshots released for the upcoming new version of The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project
https://www.dsogaming.com/screenshot-news/new-comparison-screenshots-released-for-the-upcoming-new-version-of-the-witcher-3-hd-reworked-project/
Modder ‘Halk Hogan’ has released some new comparison screenshots between the upcoming version of his HD Reworked Project and the vanilla version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. These new screenshots showcase some of the improved textures that Halk Hogan is bringing to the table. Moreover, the modder claimed that “something… like never before…” will be featured in this upcoming version.

You can now play as Triss Merigold from The Witcher 3 in Monster Hunter World
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/you-can-now-play-as-triss-merigold-from-the-witcher-3-in-monster-hunter-world/
Now here is something cool. Monster Hunter: World’s Witcher 3 crossover event is live (on consoles, it will be coming to the PC later this year), allowing players to assume the role of Geralt of Rivia and slay some monsters. And if that wasn’t enough, a new mod has surfaced, allowing players to assume the role of Triss Merigold from The Witcher series in order to kill more monsters.
Now as you may have guessed, this is a 3D model replacement mod and nothing more. Contrary to the NieR Automata or the Final Fantasy XV Aranea mod, this mod appears to be closer to the Metroid Prime Samus mod.
Unfortunately, modder ‘crimsonfaust’ has not shared any additional details about this mod or whether there are plans to bring some of Merigold’s magic abilities to Capcom’s monster hunting title.
>> Download this mod from Nexus Mods.

An absolute legend has finally modded DMX into Resident Evil 2
https://www.pcgamer.com/an-absolute-legend-has-finally-modded-dmx-into-resident-evil-2/
We asked for it, and it happened. After people started making videos that overlaid the 2003 DMX single X Gon' Give it to Ya over the appearances of Mr. X in the Resident Evil 2 remake, we were all waiting for an enterprising modder to make it real. And now, DJ Pop has done exactly that. You can find instructions for how to download and install the mod on Steam. God bless PC gaming.
As per the mod's description, it'll play when Mr. X appears in these locations
>> You'll have to check the article or the mod page to know where it appears.

This fan-made Battletech expansion adds a bunch of lore-friendly mechs
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-fan-made-battletech-expansion-adds-a-bunch-of-lore-friendly-mechs/
Battletech Extended 3025 adds plenty of lore-friendly mechs and variants to Battletech, and looks like a good excuse to jump back into one of the best PC games you can play right now.
"This mod mostly adds a ton of mechs, vehicles and variants, including new mechs you haven't seen elsewhere that are all Lore compliant for 3025," reads the Nexus Mods description. Factions will use the mechs that make sense to them, but occasionally they'll use another faction's gear—but again, only if it makes sense in the lore.

Doom megawad Eviternity hits final revision
https://www.pcgamer.com/doom-megawad-eviternity-hits-final-revision/
Eviternity is a massive project put together by the Doom modding community consisting of six five-map episodes which use a new high-quality texture pack. The episodes each explore a different theme, with examples like "Icy castles", "Medieval", and "Industrial/Brutalism". Oh, and of course "Hell/Gore/Alien". There are a couple of secret maps as well, because what would Doom be without secrets?
Though it was initially released in December, Eviternity has just had a final revision, and you can read all about its changes here. Or you could just follow the instructions here to download all 49 or so megabytes of it.

Microsoft talks Crackdown 3 PC's unlocked framerate, ultrawide support and modding potential
https://www.pcgamer.com/microsoft-talks-crackdown-3-pcs-unlocked-framerate-ultrawide-support-and-modding-potential/
I've played Crackdown 3, and wrote that its campaign feels straight out of 2007 in mostly fun ways. I didn't write too much about the PC version, but from what I saw it's almost all good news. The PC version ran well, with no slowdown or other issues in my experience, and out of the box had sensible key bindings—something recent games like Anthem and Fallout 76 have gotten wrong. After my demo, I chatted some with Xbox Studios' head engineer Brian Stone and Crackdown 3 head of production Jorg Neumann, who gave me a few details about the features the PC version supports. Even given the power of the Xbox One X, the PC version is going above and beyond.

A game of reflexes and determining whether things are on the left or right, One Finger Death Punch is a classic in low-fidelity entertainment: the earlier, more frantic arcade counterpart to Nidhogg's methodical killing blows. Soon, One Finger Death Punch 2 will bring it all back—including the announcer's bad Pat Morita impression, unfortunately—and after playing the demo that releases next week, I'm convinced it won't disappoint friends of the original.

The Outer Worlds, Obsidian's RPG that's due out later this year, will take somewhere between 15 and 40 hours to complete, the developer has confirmed.
In an interview with Game Informer, co-director Leonard Boyarsky said the size of the game was comparable to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, or "maybe a little bit smaller". It took around 30-40 hours to complete KOTOR 2, and asked whether players could expect to finish The Outer Worlds in between 15 and 40 hours, both Boyarsky and fellow co-director Tim Cain said that would be a reasonable assumption.

Medieval city builder Foundation now in Early Access, already has game-changing mods
https://www.pcgamer.com/medieval-city-builder-foundation-now-in-early-access-already-has-game-changing-mods/
Freeform medieval city builder Foundation entered Early Access earlier this month, and modders are already hard at work creating brand new game modes.
It's a completely grid-less city builder in which you paint zones on the land and watch your citizens fill in the gaps naturally. That can lead to satisfyingly curvy streets and squares popping up at junctions—the idea is that you'll get "organically sprawling cities that grow like actual medieval cities".

As a tree, you can become a therapist, sprout a jetpack and blast into space, or conquer humanity, jumping over tanks and toppling skyscrapers.

Fallout 76 player glitches inside sealed Vault 63, begs Bethesda not to ban them

Bethesda banned players who snuck into Fallout 76's 'dev room' last month—so it's no wonder one player that accidentally accessed the sealed Vault 63 this weekend was worried about the developer taking action against their account. So far they haven't been punished, and they managed to grab plenty of photos from inside the vault before fast travelling out.

Microsoft Solitaire Collection adds a feature everyone has been waiting for: Leveling up

Somehow we missed this earth-shattering news when it was announced earlier this month. Microsoft Solitaire Collection, the version of Solitaire that comes free with Windows 10, is adding a leveling system. This news has been brought to us via the weirdly good video you can see above, which riffs off the famous "in a world" trailer for Comedian. https://www.pcgamer.com/capcom-has-added-a-truckload-of-game-soundtracks-to-spotify/
Spotify's selection of videogame soundtracks recently got a massive infusion of Japanese music thanks to the Capcom Sound Team, which has dumped tons of Capcom soundtracks, new and old, onto the streaming service. Spotify's a good destination for game soundtracks if you're looking for something like Uncharted or Skyrim, but if you're looking for music from Zelda or Final Fantasy or most other big Japanese series, you're out of luck. District 9 director Neill Blomkamp has certainly been making the rounds recently. Apex Legends could soon get Solo and Duos modes
https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-could-soon-get-solo-and-duos-modes/
Respawn's surprise hit battle royale Apex Legends only supports play in squads of three, which is a little unusual given that the other big-name games in the genre—Fortnite, PUBG, Blackout—offer solo and duo play as well as squads. But if the information dug up by Fortnite dataminer ShiinaBR (who is apparently now branching into Apex Legends) is correct, solo and duo modes are on the way to Apex, too.

Rainbow Six Siege's Australian map is a ramshackle service station on a lonely highway

Paradox may be teasing a new Vampire: The Masquerade game with a dating app ARG
https://www.pcgamer.com/paradox-vampire-the-masquerade-ARG/
There's a new dating app that appears to take the term 'thirsty' quite literally. It's called Tender, a "soulmate algorithm", and seeing as how its powered by Paradox Interactive (you can even sign in with an existing Paradox account) it's probably not really trying to set you up on a date. Considering the rather bloody nature of the app's announcement video, the fact that it asks your blood type before inviting you to match with sick people near you, and that Paradox owns White Wolf Publishing (which filed an interesting trademark just last year), this smells a lot like an ARG for a new Vampire: The Masquerade game. Maybe.

Two basic features were absent at the launch of the Epic Games Store: cloud saving, which is supposed to come soon, and the ability to play games offline. Good news: the latter of the two was quietly added last week.
I can't find a way to manually switch to offline mode, but try this: close the Epic launcher (it doesn't seem to matter if you're signed in or not), disconnect from the internet, and launch it again. It'll let you know that it can't connect, and will give you the option to skip sign-in. Do that, and you should still be able to launch installed games, so long as they don't require a connection to play. I was able to launch Hades and What Remains of Edith Finch.

Konami has announced that it's halting the sale of Pro Evolution Soccer 2019's in-game currency in Belgium.
The sale of myClub Coins will cease across all platforms once the 'necessary preparations are made.' Any previously purchased myClub Coins can be used as normal and the currency will continue to be rewarded for playing the game but players will no longer be able to purchase them with real money.
