It's just frustrating. I don't want to get excited for Sunset Overdrive, because it could end up being just another okay game. It looks good, but I was super excited for Overstrike as well.

Fuse isn't a terrible game. It's playable, the mechanics work well, and it's mildly entertaining. But the story is literally go shoot a billion guys, then kill some mech(s), then use the weapon from the mech(s) to kill a bunch more guys. Then a short cutscene setting up the next area for you to go and shoot a bunch more. The characters aren't bad. Their banter is fun (mostly... the scene where one character is cutting the eye out of a dead guy for a retinal scanner and says "Hey, after this you guys wanna get a taco?" is disgusting), and I sorta get some of their backstory. But really, it's all about the shooting. And there is a lot of shooting.

Also, AFAIK, Insomniac does own the IP for Sunset Overdrive, so they could possibly bring it to other consoles with other publishers... but then they wouldn't really need Xbox Live after all, which Ted was pretty insistent about. No matter which direction they go from here, they're gonna have more bad press. And if Sunset Overdrive ends up being received about as well as Fuse...(I hope it's a great game. If it is, at the very least, I'll borrow a friend's X1 to play it).

That's an interesting one.  I had presumed from the video being "Microsoft Studios presents..." that it would've been an MS-owned IP.

If not, then I suppose that's a very good thing.  The game definitely looks more like the type of thing I want to see from Insomniac.  How it turns out is another matter (lot of guessing after a trailer that didn't show any gameplay), but it's on the right track.
