Forums - Sony Discussion - All PS3s are backward compatible with PS2 software.

How did you guys get this emulator? Is it for a specific PS2 classic or is it the base version?

Isnt this illegal?

It's discussion.

Check out ps3hax.net for those interested.

Sounds like promotion.

Also how is the frame rate and resolution?

Would assume the resolution is the same as PS2 games, so 480p max. Frame rate however, depends on the compability.

Exactly, to me it's no different then the spam bots posting on articles with comments like buy these shoes now at url..

Yeah, they just cut out the software side of things so they could pad the cost of current gen development with "HD Collections" and the like. Of course now they're doing trilogies of current gen games too, now, but... -_-

I'm just shocked that they have a fully working PS2 emulator running at full speed for the likes of FFX and so forth.

Pretty amazing considering it only has access to 256MB RAM.

PCSX2 needs a monster of a machine to run well (with admittedly better AA and so on).

HD collections don't run on the emulator, only PS2 classics do.

Seriously. PCSX2 still struggles with certain games on my PC, even at default resolution.

Knowing that they don't even need to rework the old games to get them to work on the Emotion-free models is a real piss-off, though.

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21

How rude, I've been here nearly a year or so.

That is where this information originates, it's the only English speaking place I could direct anyone to! (You know like a source in a news article)

The smoothing filter works so it looks a bit better than on the PS2.

Final Fantasy X runs as smooth as the original and textures and sound are perfect.

Anyway....

Ahhh psshhh I shouldn't have made this thread, was hoping for some discussion but since 2 people have already criticized me for reporting this, and there was me thinking people would think it's interesting. After all, weren't 60/80GB PS3s the holy grail of gaming pleasure and highly sought after by members here.

Me thinks people are feeling a bit defensive just because I'm the one who made the thread.

Mods please lock or whatever, can't be bothered with the aggro. :)

What games don't run good on PCSX2 for you? I'd be really shocked if they didn't have issues as well on PS3.

That's like asking why a drug company doesn't endorse proven natural remedies.

$$$$$

I'm sure Sony is much happier re-selling PS2 classics/HD Remastered titles as oppose to giving away a free pass to their entire collection.
