Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xbox 720, PS4 could start at $350, says analyst

Obviously there's a balance of price vs. performance. A lower price range, in the $350 mark isn't going to create leaps and bounds of improvements from the current gen HD systems. They have to find that happy balance of "wow factor" in order to convince people that they need the new system as opposed to the current ones.

And Nintendo will go third party, looks like everything is right in the world again.

I'd been getting antsy from the fact that analysts had been starting to sound relatively positive about the Wii U - it was a bad sign for Nintendo. Now that they're all describing it as "an uphill battle" and similar again, we can feel confident that Nintendo has nothing to worry about.

I can't remember the last time an analyst was actually right about Nintendo.

EDIT: The most remarkable part is where it is suggested that Nintendo needs to get Zelda out there and selling, in order to get support from third-parties. Funny, I recall a console that sold extremely well from launch, and had Zelda at launch. I seem to recall that platform getting woeful third-party support.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - if any analyst knows what they're talking about, they're going to be selling their analyses, not giving them away for free. Any comment made by an analyst in public is to be considered suspect at least, and is most likely to be pure PR spin for one of their customers.
