Android as an OS, yes. But if we're talking individual phones, then iPhone wins by a longshot. They're dominating the tablet market as well with iPad.

They might peak this year or next year for the quarter the new iPhone/iPad release. They need to make a new innovative product fast. They can't live off the current iDevices forever.

isn't this natural? sales go down after holidays, so manufacturing must go down too?

If it's natural, then they woudn't have to cut their order. They would have ordered the appropriate number of screens given the time of year.

For tablets, yes I think they're still dominant. For smartphones, nope. I'm pretty sure Samsung sells more smartphones these days.

The cut order is probably one supplier of the screens (Samsung) as Apple moves screen and phone/pad production to other companies.

Makes me laugh when people are like 'yes apple is doomed, so happy' of Apple go we are left with crap from Samsung.. Oh great

Quantity vs. Quality.

Apple makes 1 new iPhone a year that competes against dozens(hundreds) of Samsung Android-powered phones. Who is the real winner here?

The statement you quoted says "Once the dominant smartphone and tablet seller...". Dominant seller = who sells more smartphones. So in this case it is all about quantity, and as I said, I'm prettty sure Samsung sells more smartphones.

EDIT: It actually says in the article "...while the Galaxy S lineup of smartphones recently edge out the iPhone for the smartphone market crown." So Samsung is selling more smartphones.

BGR has a followup article on the "strange math" of that original piece:

This is stock manipulating FUD, folks.
