You NEED to buy Noby Noby Boy

Around the Network

I'm pretty certain my next two retail buys are going to be PSASBR and Journey Collection.

Noby Noby Boy, being only $5 and made by the makers of Katamari, has been added to my collection and is currently firing up as I type this. =D

PSASBR is actually really great.  I've been playing it on the Vita and I love it.

I would recommend Heavy Rain. It's a great emotional game with a pretty good story, it has its problems but it's a great experience. You might also like the resistance trilogy.  The first one is great, the second one is alright, and the third was the best, IMO.

Edit* Just saw you listed Resistance, didn't see it the first time. I'll still recommend it.

Good review except for a glaring omission, the fact that PS3 is a blu-ray player, and a 3d one at that! Shouldn't this be part of your review? It's been one of the better blu-ray players you could buy since day one when stand alone players would you cost $100-$200. The 3d upgrade happened a few years back, for free., and works great with my 50" Panasonic 3d plasma. The problem with your TV (the signal info display) is most likely a problem with your tv, not the PS3. I've had mine hooked up to several TVs ( Sony and Panasonic) and never had that problem. PS+ is a killer app, I just signed up for the $50 for 1 year, since I have a Vita i'll get free games and discounts for both systems. I got Uncharted and Gravity Rush free for vita, Infamous 2 free on the PS3..so far. The only problem with PS+ is I don't have time to play all the free games! What a problem to have. The there's also Playstation Home, hate it or love it, it's still free and getting better all the time. (Don't tell anybody but i've been spending a lot of time building a city in Home Tycoon)

And don't buy Noby, oh, too late.

you pretty much summed up all the great games that you should have on your PS3.. but you forgot Heavenly Sward which hold its position very well against the other exclusives. not to mention Heavy Rain which has its unique experiance to go through and enjoy.

I don't share your concerns about not having the power brick, the internal power brick is one of the reasons the ps3 is my favorite console since it's easily exchangeable between different rooms. I only need a standard power cable and hdmi cable in each location, no fumbling to get the power brick from behind the av cabinet and untangle the power cord.

You can get a standard USB extension cord to play while charging, for less then $5 for 10ft it is the easiest solution.

For downloads you can let the ps3 download and install them automatically while you sleep. Instead of using the ps3 controller to shut down the system, go all the way to the left on the xmb and choose turn off system. There you have the option to shut down after downloading (which will do the install as well)
And yes the only thing that got worse in the Playstation store is the free downloads. They used to be one click done, now it goes through the purchase process. It's also still missing is a wish list, but at least it has a cart instead of buying things one by one.

And yes get the flow/flowr/journey retail collection, that also includes another month of ps+ :)

Very nice review on the Super Slim Model. Im still considering buying a Super Slim as my original 60g produces way to much heat for my room (much better suited for the Living Room).

I could have sworn that I have charged my Controller with my Nexus Tablet charger, Ill have to try that again.

Looks like you have a pretty comprehensive list of games to buy, no need to offer up any.

You're in the minority with that, but it's cool that this setup works for you. I wouldn't mind it if they included a longer cord to make up for the fact that it's only one cord, but since they didn't, I have to go out of my way to get a longer one - which I wouldn't have had to otherwise - and that's the main complaint here.

That's also the complaint with the USB charge cable. I have to go out of my way to get something else that they should have packaged with it in the first place. Yeah, sure, it's cheap to get one. That's pretty much exactly why they should have packaged one with it.

I'll check out that download option next time I have something to download. Still not ideal (since the biggest complaint is having to install separately from downloading), but it alleviates the issue somewhat.

And yeah, if you're looking to buy a bunch of stuff (which, honestly, is pretty rare), having a cart is nice. I think the best solution would be if there was an option to "buy now" or "add to cart". Go directly to checkout instead of messing with the cart = one (potentially two, depending on how it's implemented) less screen(s) to deal with in the process. Y'know, like Amazon's one-click purchasing.

In other news, I added a section to the review about backwards compatibility. DUN DUN DUNNNNN.

I just got a PS3 this year also. It's a great console because of it's games.

A power brick is never a plus. The internal is perfectly safe and is the last thing the air that flows through touches. So the hot air from the PSU doesn't affects the motherboard or any of the chips. It will not cause premature heat related death. A power brick is more likely to overheat than an internal supply that always has a supply of fresh air running through it. You think about things too much. It's not the smart thing to do. Heck, even the newest PS2 slims has internal supplies. The bricks tend to get chucked behind a TV stand where there is no airflow to cool it.
