Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime has announced that the lengthy day-one update for Wii U should be pre-installed on new systems starting from the Spring. Fils-Aime went on to reiterate that the patch was necessary to make sure that the very best product is available to consumers.
“Nintendo developers want to make sure that the very best product is available to consumers.”
“That creates a dynamic where our developers are working on elements until the very last point possible. That’s why the system update was required on Day One – and this is quite similar to what’s happened with other consumer electronic products.”

Bet with ninjablade: 1 month sig control. He wins if the PS4 outsells the Wii U 2:1, I win if it doesn't. Based on the first 6 months of both consoles.

Cool. But when is the patch for the patch going to come? Not that there is anything significantly wrong, but the very rare occurrence of a hard lock that requires me to pull the plug on my WiiU is not a good thing. It can't be good on the internal hardware, the PSU, or the plug.

I've said for multiple years... all new consoles by the end of 2013. WiiU Nov 2012. PS4 Holiday 2013. neXtBox strongly rumored 2013. All I need is neXtBox confirmation before my I was right all along thread.
I lost a bet to Jay520. He correctly predicted that neXtBox will not release within 2012. I should have known that Jay520 was an excellent predictor, I was foolish to bet against him. (June7)
