Forums - Sony Discussion - Help a Playstation nub-New question in OP.

Congrats UltimateUnknown, for your new PS3 :) . Also don't forget whenever you buy some DLC or extra, the game and the PlayStation Store, both has to be from the same region. Just pointing this out because is one question that new users ask very often. Have fun and game on!

Thanks man. PS3 may have been the last of the 3 console I've bought this gen, but it is definitely looking to provide some of the best gaming experiences this gen.

And yes my PS3 is registered for the Europe region but I may open up some other region accounts if there are any game contents I want.

Uncharted 2 and 3 don't need any install because ND is a devil pact studio. Other than that, I've had to install data on most games, like, hell, if you get Bayonetta for PS3(oh god why SEGA? fu!) make sure you install the data on the HDD, you must. Also, when you play MGS4, there will be parts where you just want to murder yourself, other than that, it's not so bad?

MGS4 recently got a trophy patch. You can now also install the chapters so there is no more waiting times between them.

you can? I'll have to install that stupid thing on there then, got plenty of space

I'm not quite sure what the issue is you're having with the second question in the OP. I leave plenty of stuff downloading in the background while I play offline games. So long as you're connected to the internet, the download will continue.

Are you sure you didn't just pause the download or something?

To give you an example of what I mean:

1) Start download of something, say Infamous. Set to background download.
2) Leave the internet connected.
3) Do other stuff, such as play an offline game, like The Sims 3, or a PS1 game.
4) Finish playing Sims 3 or PS1 game after an hour. Turn off console.
5) Turn on console a few hours later. Go do download management, choose Infamous and hit "resume" (It will pause when you switch off the console iirc, but it will keep all the progress it made)
6) Rinse & repeat until the download is finished.

If this isn't what happened for you, then I'd say something must've gone wrong, because it shouldn't reset back to 0% unless you cancelled the download, and it shouldn't pause itself when you're playing another game.

Many games have mandatory installs with a select few coming with an optional install.
When downloading in the background it will only work if you aren't running any applications, otherwise it will pause downloading.
