Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Disturbing Wii Trend

A blog from Matt (from IGN) really got me more concerned with this occuring phenomenon.

Although Third Party support is coming it's hesitant over what kind of content to bring to the Wii console.

Developers, like the Wii because of the freedom it gives them and the gamecost. But I'm afraid publishers are the hesitant force behind the support. They are the ones in charge of marketing and shipping the games to the proper locations. Hoping the game sells and they get there investment back. Sales numbers that show nintendo games taking up 80% of the software aren't going to make them(the publishers) invest more money in the Wii.

Publishers are looking at the christmas holidays and see that yet again nintendo and minigames (M&S: AtO) sell through the roof. NMH's didn't do so well in Japan, Suda delivered another concerning message that describes this trend. Although its important to note that we will have to wait until the release in America it fits more with their preferences.

Mature content are the most at risk. Manhunt was supposed to break the trend but it had some unfortunate set-backs(Anyone Read the news?).

This got me thinking about Sadness again to. They were (many still are? it's quiet at www.nibris.net) having trouble finding a publisher. Good games, games I WANT! (love horror games) are being dismissed by publishers because of this trend.

Now nintendo has made alot of profet with the Wii and the DS. And I would really like to see that nintendo keeps it promise made half way 2007 (sorry don't know the date) that they will work more closely with third party's. And mostly with developers. Taking them under there wing and publishing their titles.

There is alot of potential so please Nintendo hurry up. Don't do anything to save a buck. Don't be the gamecube 1.5 that some people make you out to be.

Read the blog it really has some good points in it
