Holy Crap! Great job at this thread CGI! 5 Stars.
(I will read it later, I just want to get this back in the Hot Topics!)

OK, so I read most of it and it was for sure a great read.
I actually asked about the Uncanny-Valley in another thread and what a coincidence! You post a great article about it. This is very interesting CGI. You should be a Writer!

Aww, Boo is so cute.

This makes me dream of the future! Being a tech demo  whore I've seen so many animation, 3d rendering, lighting demos etc that I just can't wait until we finally reach a point where we can say: "This is as far as we need to go to fool someone."

Not quite there yet in realtime though. Will add in a picture of a 3D character that's very well done in a moment if I can find it.

Thinking about that, actually. I'm in school for game development (character animation, specifically), but I've thought of writing too.

You should seriously consider it! You are very good.

Something I've realized is the uncanny valley is dynamic. When King Kong first came out for example viewers were amazed at the quality of the effect. Nowdays no one in their right mind would call it realistic looking. Films that try to conquer the uncanny valley age quickly. As humans we get better at noticing the flaws.

Great read. And as I said before game developers should embrace and exploit the uncanny valley. First for horror games and then for other cool stuff like this.

tagging so I won't forget to read later..thanks CGI

I did read it, though. The way I read it (from memory) I thought he meant he got info from the Verge but not the whole Article from The Verge.
