As much as it pains me to say this, they're right.

I still love what Marty has done with the original trilogy, and they're still my most favourite soundtracks in video games, but it is time for a change, just recapping what has been done before would limit the game & franchise going forward.

Sounds like they have a capable composer signed up in any case!

forgive my ignorance as i've only played bits of halo 1 but ... that's a pretty big departure (potentially) no? i mean, not that what is composed for halo has to sound exactly like massive attack but in general it's pretty far out there, right?

its dark, moody and extremely well produced.

LOVE massive attack.

This guy was only involved with MA since 96, Mezzanine will show what he is all about.  Listen to Angel or Teardrop as great examples.

don't get me wrong...i really like the music itself.  mezzanine is an amazing album.  I just wonder how the greater public will react to the shift.  from what i remember the halo soundtrack was pretty much orchestral and choir.

I assume the general base that will play Halo 4 will be receptive to the change if it's good, I should imagine that after 4 games with essentially the same base as OST that people would like something different.

If it's done badly though, hell is gonna explode.

Just like any game (or anything really) change of any sort will end up making some people mad because there are a lot of people out there who hate any sort of change from the regular. But as long as they don't botch the music I'm sure most will like it.

Before this thread I've never heard of Massive Attack before. The first song I watched on YouTube ended up being the House theme song...which was very surprising actually. I think that type of music will be a pretty good fit for Halo.

WOW. This is going to be fucking incredible.

I can't wait....

They are completely right and I approve. Watch now how the world of music noobs flock to the mid-90's trip-hop scene. I think that down tempo vibe fits perfectly, can't wait I'm stoked.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Watch the VID that was posted in this thread with the music teasers,

MY god everything about Halo 4 is a WHOLE new level, haven't been this hyped for a game since Halo 3.

And here I was thinking you did not get hyped about anything!

While Halo has always been great with the OST, that video really makes it look like they're trying to shoot into the same level as Gladiator, TDK etc with the soundtrack!
