Tor Books has announced the sequel to Karen Traviss’ Halo novel Glasslands. Entitled Halo: Thursday War. This will be the second book in Traviss’ post war trilogy. According to the Tor’s press release, the book “picks up immediately where Halo: Glasslands left off,
The term “Thursday War” comes from the modern day Royal navy and is the “colloquial name given in the Royal Navy for the weekly war-fighting and damage control exercises that are held during Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST), so named because they are usually held on a Thursday.” How this will translate into the Halo universe is unknown. However, Traviss gave a hint in the article saying “I wanted to focus on what it feels like to operate in a fragile ceasefire that’s turning into a mass of small, unpredictable wars where the enemy is much harder to spot and define,”.
This novel will be Traviss’ third Halo story, her first; Human Weakness was included in 2009’s best-selling Halo story anthology, Halo Evolutions.Halo: Glasslands which debuted number 10 on the New York Time's Trade Paperback Fiction bestseller list was her first full length Halo novel; she has also penned novels for Xbox 360 game Gears of War and recently was the lead Game writer for Epic Games’ Gears of War 3. She has now turned her attention to writing for the Halo universe. Halo: Thursday War will release on October 2nd, 2012.
