They do NOT say where it is supply constrained. so Once agian. If your gonna say stuff that makes no sense like that...

 Where did sony say it would affect NPD nubmers? All they said was supply constrained. Unless you know for a fact they are NOT selling to retailers to send sony finishes them... stop makeing yourself look dumb.

Please tell me where in that bold text it says NPD monthly numbers, Sales to customers, or infact, any specifics at all other than what is said? 

You do realize the statement was a response to the NPD numbers, hence the title of the article:

while sony doesn't specifically mention the npd number,

the statement IMPLIES that the reason why the number is so low, is the fact that they were supply constrained for the european release.

 and that is why pr people get paid the big bucks...

I'm glad you’re here and I even enjoy a healthy debate, it's good to hear thoughts from different sides, but lately you seem to be too eager to defend Sony, and apparently at the expense of not reading articles or posts fully.

Well said, I'll agree with this nicely. Although I still find MS more "quiet" about general sales figures (i.e. not opening coming out and saying they have sold 10m to consumers months ago).

Im not sure why Sony feel they have to lie about all this - and make no mistake IT IS A LIE.

My only theory is to placate uninformed consumers & retailers. Many media outlets have no idea about the actual facts, yet when they see a public statement like this from Sony, they go and repeat/report it word-for-word everywhere. And as the trick with 'spin', a lie becomes the truth as people generally don't knw any better.

Wait till next month. This month they had the Europe release (a good number of PS3's sold), and the GoWII release (a lot of PS2/software sold) - all good news. Im not sure what (if any) good news there is for them in April - expect them to go quiet on the sales front, or maybe blab about HOME being in beta or something.

BTW, even this part of the statement is a LIE:

Ignoring 5weeks vrs 4weeks is inexcusable, when analysing this sort of data/stats. Its like saying the population of Earth had an healthy increase, whereas the population of Venus didn't - they are both 'planets' after all.

It should have been punctuated by:

(although March with a 5 week reporting period vrs February with 4 weeks, actually indicates a 20% drop in comparable sales).

Blah, this is the sort of crap that makes me HATE Sony. Neither MS or Ninty put out BS like this.

I think MS does put out some whoppers. Nintendo pr has actually been pretty good lately.
