Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony: Now Moody's downgrade too.

The unfortunate fact is, Sony needs to do a lot of things to improve its business.

This should be in the Sales forum. This has nothing to do with Playstation.

This is a news article regarding Sony and it's in Sony Discussion. Please let the moderators decide what belongs where.

The SONY, Nintendo, and Microsoft forum should be used solely to for thier respective console related stuff( the description of each forum clearly says that..AKA it doesnt say discuss bravia). Isnt that why we have the sales forum exist? so that things like window 7 stuff andTV can be discuss.. ya know un PS/XBOX related stuff can go?.

i agree with you , should be a separated section  for games and for this type of threads

Maybe a special "doom" section for all doom and gloom threads?

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

How can Sony investors and the board of director's not see they need to get Howard Stringer the fuck out of there. I saw it three years ago. Kaz needs to hurry up and step in. This company is rotting to nothing.

I can see them getting bought out by another company in the next few years. They have the resources, assets, and capital - but are poorly managed.

Or they have an Apple like miracle (a company that was in the shitter before the iPod was launched).

Its clear that Sony is no longer the market leader in anything they do now. Tvs, phones, consoles. Made even worse by downgraded credit ratings and high yen.

This will lead to a total deterioration of the company unless drastic restructuring happens.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Not surprising, Sony lost in every market they once dominated.
This is what happens when you think consumers will just buy a "brand".

Except you know...the consumer DOES just buy a brand as is evident with superior alternatives to the iPhone and iPad that don't get purchased no where near as much as they should be. Just had a play around with a Galaxy Tab the other day, makes my iPad 2 look like a joke. Also people were buying into the Nintendo brand back when the 3DS was $250 and had just OoT3D, just not at the record breaking sales rate it is selling at now.

Well I think the problem is Sony thinks they can pull a Nintendo or Apple. But alas the brand just isnt up there....yet they still think they are, which lies the problem.

Yes people do buy by brand.
Just not the "Sony" brand because they had devalued over the eyes of the consumer.
From television to cellphones to even the ps3.  They were once a top market performers but now they are overrun by competitors.

My opinion on this matter , well on the playstation side of things,

entering the handheld market seams like it did hurt more then good
competing with Nintendo who dominated the market . for some 20+ years is alot different then when Sony entered at 13 years in a console race which was already split in two thanks to Sega
Nintendo practically owns the handheld market .
so with that said . there is reason I believe entering the handheld market for Sony was not a good move.

sure PsP sold well enough. but the game gear also had its fair share of sales.
and these 2 took their respective company's eyes off the main ball enough so the competitor can get a run up
it seams that is exactly how it started . . for both Sony and Sega -Sega whom had a popular genesis -as soon as Game gear hit sega became cocky. started making 1 mistake after the next.

Sony came up with better results then Sega so far but that don't mean it took nothing away from them because they to became cocky and thought charging 600 dollars for a PS3 was such a good idea
did not work out to well and this is the results

You can sense the bias against Sony from the media. For Sony it's third-lowest, but for Panasonic they put a positive spin on it. Called it sixth-highest, even though its in the bottom half as well.

You can't just change the bias in the media, remember all the "sony is teh doomz" articles around 2006-2008?

Also this is about television division, dunno why I should care about the television division on vgchartz? Do people also post Microsoft Office related news here??

Not a surprise and mostly deserved. Sony are a company that arguably got itself into two many areas of operation and lost focus to less diversified competitors, particularly when the economic crisis hit.

Now they just seem at a loss how to proceed despite having a lot of good core assets and a decent brand to work with.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
