This is a news article regarding Sony and it's in Sony Discussion. Please let the moderators decide what belongs where.

Regarding the situation with Sony, they really need some new creative energy in the company. I actually thought Phil Harrison seemed to get the picture in terms of Sony's gaming division (he was calling for Sony to appeal more to casual gamers back with the PS2), but he's long gone. Sony desperately needs to re-structure and stop being a rigid, do-it-all electronics company. Sony really needs to move away from low-margin hardware and become more media focused (like SCE and Sony Pictures).

Well the article has to do with debt/earnings/credit so that wouldn't fall under Sales either. I just really don't care that much and I'd much rather discuss this article because I think Sony's current financial problem is pretty interesting.

Not surprising, Sony lost in every market they once dominated.
This is what happens when you think consumers will just buy a "brand".

Kind of a shame, but not entirely unexpected given their continued recent troubles in some areas of their operations.

I hope they manage to turn it all around, but they might have to slim down the company a bit to make it more versatile.

Sony needs new leaders with vision who understand Hardware, no matter how great tech wise is not as valuable without the software. They need to understand how important the right marketing, the naming of the product and timing of release dates builds the right hype.
They always over promised and by the time you get your product although great, you feel like it's missing things. They need to build the right relationship, sometimes I feel other companies simply hate their guts.

Sony needs to understand, that we want the stuff to be cheaper, so they need get rid of all the (remaining) expensive japanese workers and do everything in Bangladesh plz, thx.

Except you know...the consumer DOES just buy a brand as is evident with superior alternatives to the iPhone and iPad that don't get purchased no where near as much as they should be. Just had a play around with a Galaxy Tab the other day, makes my iPad 2 look like a joke. Also people were buying into the Nintendo brand back when the 3DS was $250 and had just OoT3D, just not at the record breaking sales rate it is selling at now.
