Forums - Sales Discussion - Microsoft Ships over 15m consoles in 2011

With the news in the X360 has hit 66m (or possibly more) that leaves a minimum of 8.4m shipped in Q4.

This puts shipped numbers for this year at 15.1m

So Vgchartz should be at about 14.5-14.7 right? How many consoles are usually sitting on shelves at the beginning of the new year?

Holy cow. that was unexpected. There goes any rumor about a new generation.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Those are Shipped consoles... VGChartz doesn´t track Sold units?

So, 15.1m shipments compared to 14.1m VGC sales. How much have we undertracked it?

we need to wait report first(19th Jan)

That's nine days!

*sigh*

When do we get Sony's numbers?

If true then impressive numbers for Q2 o.O.

Why do people automatically think sold should be less than shipped. It can be more or less or the same dependent on the amount in supply at the start of the prior of shipping that is being considered.

For instance...

Supply Jan 1st: 1m
Shipped: 15m
Supply Dec 31st: 0.5m
Sold through: 15.5m

Well according to the 4Q Predictions Thread 360 had supply of 420K to start 2011.

So

Supply Jan 1st: 420K
Shipped: at least 15.2M (66M+ - 50.8M)
Supply Dec 31st: ?? Estimate at 500K
Sold through: ~15.1M

Of course how much over 66M will really tell the story and we will find that out in a couple of weeks.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Need I remind you that Sony announced in early December that they were slightly ahead of their 15 Million target for 2011?

PS.
How many threads do we need about this?
