Forums - Sony Discussion - Blu-rays to be copied to PSPs

According to this IGN article http://psp.ign.com/articles/843/843981p1.html Blu-ray movies will eventually be able to be transferred to a PSP memory stick via the PS3. It's all a part of the new plans for greater Blu-ray interactivity.

Sounds like a great idea from Sony that adds some value to your Blu-ray collection.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

Krik beat you

By me:

"Since you can´t understand ... there is no point to taking you seriously."

Well, that's kinda a way of saying "Yeah, we were stupid for UMD's when we're officially putting movies on memory sticks now too".

Also, my next question is, naturally, is this blu-ray only? I could swear that PSP wasn't a HD console, so unless Blu-Ray discs come formated with a special smaller movie file to fit on a stick.... maybe a DVD....

But I suppose for those who have an issue with piracy, instead of downloading movies to your USB stick, you buy a 40 dollar blu-ray movie, and copy it... to your PSP to enjoy none of the features of blu-ray. Gotcha.

See Ya George.

At least following a comedians own jokes makes his death easier.

Now they are saying they our doing away with UMD. I knew from the get-go that this format was going to fail. It was nice for gaming, but the movie aspect was awful. Considering half of those PSP owners use for gaming and music.

I think the transferring process will convert the movie to PSP size.

Auron - That's fine, but seems kinda meh to me, plus, unless the PSP video actually comes on the Blu-Ray disc itself, it likely would require some nice encoding time.

I actually like that idea, they have to do something to appease PSP owners like me(i can't find UMDs in stores anymore and i actually like them since i travel a lot on buses trains and the worst planes).
