Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The newest Wii DDR game shows why GC-less Wii sucks.

I'm still sticking to DDR on ps2, but I just replaced my aging wii today and the store owner warned me exactly for this reason. The new models weren't even cheaper so I got a good looking refurbished unit instead.

Transferring saves on the wii is a big pain in the ass btw. It won't let you copy the save onto the new machine until you start each game on the new machine, then you have to manually erase the empty savegame first before you can copy it off a memory card.

Same here dude....

GC ports only affect a few million people at best.

Nintendo saves money on less hardware and make money on potential VC purchases from people, like me, who didn't play the vast GC library... and I guarantee you there are many times more people in my category than yours on Wii now and eventually WiiU.

You're the 1%.

The fallacy there is you're assuming that only people who actually use those features care about them. Netflix learned the hard way that consumers don't like options taken out, even if they don't use them. So your "guarantee" is disproven by real life events.

And you don't make money on a "potential... purchase" of anything. You make money on actual purchases, but that doesn't excuse forcing people to pay.

And your "1%" line is wrong, since the Wii sales to GC sales isn't even at 5X, not 100X, which is what would be needed to make it 1 percent.

What blows my mind is that the model isnt even cheaper. WHen SOny did it, it was to lower the price, so what is the point of Ninty removing the feature?? What Superchunk said is crap, he'd rather spend more money on VC games than just going out and getting the orginal GC game?? That makes no sense

Must be the famous Nintendo innovation I'm hearing about so often.

Removing features to drop price would be copying competitors so they innovated ;)

Well that problem will not exist with WiiU and so few DDR games are released on Nintendo platforms I don't think Nintendo sees it as a loss for Wii either. I mean the majority of Wii units can use the DDR mat's perfectly this new cheaper model is to please all those penny pinchers who didn't buy a Wii at full price. Its also meant to bring in every dime of extra profit Nintendo can milk. I mean with hardware sales dropping and Nintendo losing money on 3DS they need to claw in every dime they can. This means making the hardware cheaper which is easily done by removing GameCube functionality.

Lets face it DSi didn't have GBA functionality and it didn't suffer much at all. If a consumer wants to play GCN games or DDR that badly they can always locate a cheap used Wii or find a retailer who still has some of the old Wii in stock. Yah you can't find the old Wii on shelves in almost any major retailer but try a smaller game specialty store or online and I am sure you could find an old model without much of a problem!

It's NOT cheaper. It's the SAME PRICE. Furthermore, we don't even have word this is just another option instead of a replacement.

Will wiiU games work on the gamecube? I hope so because I really don't feel like upgrading my gamecube any time soon and it sucked not being able to fit the wii games in it.

I guess they might be thinking, IF there is a GC selection on the VC, that no one would buy them if they had the discs, since there is this myth of used sales hurting new game sales simply for existing (and not that the new games aren't worth full price a lot of the time).

Gamecube section on the VC?  That would be awesome......if the Wii actually had an HDD.  :(

How is that an counter to my point? Did you even read it? Claiming that BC is the same as FC is bullshit, especially when I'm referring to removing an option at no savings or other options to make up for it. That is a completely different thing.

You seem to get upset about silly things so I wrote something silly to see if it would upset you. You used the word bullshit so I would say my silly thing worked.

I hope you can find peace and happiness in your life.
