I was thinking today about whats going to happen at around 2050-2100 period, and i tried to think of the most logical thing that could happen during that time, so here it is. Also post what you think will happen.

Okay around 2040-2050 there will be an resource crisis, massive price hikes will occur arcoss the globe and war will erupt between nations to aquire resources, an example would be USA demanding Australia not to supply china or anyone else with coal (which can be produced into oil), Australia being US bitch will agree prompting china to get agressive and invade. War will occur in this region and will most likely occur across the globe with miltiary European nations invading african-asian nations for resources and Russia and China agressively expanding there boarders to gain more resources. India and Pakistan will nuke each other into obilivon.

Around 2050-2070 will be the global food crisis, Fish stocks will go down, food supplies are dissapearing and floods and doughts and desertification has consumed much farmland combined with urban areas. food riots will cripple nations and force many into miltary rule and cival war will errupt between government supporters trying to bring peace and low class rebels who want all the food hoarded with ration distribution to be distributed to the people. 

2070-2100: What would occur after this would be the racial divide, people group themselves with people they can relate to and trust them more, so during the food riot chaos goverments and miltary will break down and people will group in there own tribes of there own race. WIth global migration and cultural mixing, tribes like this would form all over nations. The tribes each desperate for food would attack and destroy others to get there food and this will continue. 

Since most of the good farm land has been destroyed continual genocide between tribes and stavation combined with recent wars and chaos would of reduced population by around 2/3. 

2100- : currently in the global warming debate and climate change on the side were people would say "The earth will just fix it self", why you may argue that, in fact they are right, with the only way earth wouldn't fix it self as the most extreme (global nuking, metroid strike, moon is destroyed etc etc). I believe that over time people will continue to decline in numbers, global population would reach around <500 million, that the tribes will become primative over time while still retaining modern technology will live in small isolated communities for 100s if not 1000s of years while the earth recovers. 

That all could happen or an Ice age will occur killing all.

anyways What you think would happen?

I dunno, but there are some prophecies around that say 2/3 of the human population will die in a short-ish space of time, and then 2/3 of the remaining will die. So let's say we get to 8 billion, remove 2/3 = 2.666 billion, remove 2/3 = 888 million. So your 500 million isn't too far off those prophecies.

I expect something pretty drastic to happen, because all the wake up calls we've had over the last century or so don't seem to have lead to any real fundamental changes in the way we interact.

I do think we will eventually get a world government. Whether it's by 2100 or not I'm not sure. I think we need it before then but it seems as a race we are fairly slow learners despite our apparently massive intellect. Oh well, we live and learn...or not as the case may be.
