I changed my mind. Played 360 for the first time in months last night. Played over 8 hours.

Catagories and winners

Left analog stick: PS3 (changed my mind)

Right analog stick: Tie

Face butttons: PS3 by some distance

Shoulder buttons: PS3 (360 buttons feel too clicky, like a mouse)

Triggers: 360 by a mile. The only big advantage it has imo.

DPAD: PS3 by a mile.

Confort: PS3 (also changed my mind)

So for the first time this gen I say DS3 has my vote. 

I'll go with Xbox 360 controller all the way. Playstation controller is not near Microsofts.

The PS3 controller designer needs to learn some lesson on human ergonomic. CONCAVE IS GOOD!!! WHY DO YOU NOT USE CONCAVE YOU SILLY SILLY JAPANESE??

Ahem, in all serious, I don't have a huge issue with the PS3 controller, I feel it is serviceable and reasonably comfortable but the 360 controller is near perfect; the ergonomic is fantastic for both large and small hand, the groove on the handle is perfectly design to fit into your hand. The concave trigger design is just damn good and doesn't have the unnecessary strong resistance that the PS3 L2-R2 has. The analog nubs are again concave inward, providing a perfect resting spot for your thumb. The only let down is the terrible Dpad, if they fix that next gen, I would have nothing to complain about.

360. Apart from fighters, 360 controller is better in every genre. The old school left analog placement of ps3 pad needs to be moved. It is so out of place. And less accurate due to human nature. ( Forward is forward with you thumb, not diagonal ). Also the handles are to small and slippery on ps3. And finally the founded surface of ps3 analogs cause issues. They need to curve in. Also the triggers. Great design 10 years ago. But outclassed in todays market. I think Sony know this. As ds3 was a fallback controller at the start of the gen. Sony will change it next Gen. Guaranteed.

There is no reason for the PS3 controller to move the Left Analog stick. I think the symmetry of the PS3 controller helps with its comfort.

For the first few days of playing the 360, my hands would hurt at the end of the day. Now, the way I need to hold the controller to not hurt my hands just feels awkward.

My biggest problem with the PS3 controller is the trigger placement more than the triggers themselves. Id rather have them moved up and in and not fully inline with the shoulder buttons.

I really don't like the PS controller, I could use it well enough on any games I play, but it takes a while getting used to, and even when I do it's still times when I press the wrong buttons or my fingers begin hurting whilst using it.

360 controller, although may appear ridiculous feels the best for me, I found it really hard to use it at first, but once I've adapted it's a lot easier, the only con that I had was having to press the direction pads with my chin when my hands were occupied with the analogs and triggers.

The 360 Controller. For the Average Hands of a grown person, he's just more ergonomic than Sony's. Then again, exactly this might be a reason to pick the PS3's. (Cuz not everyone likes to have their hands 'filled'... and if people tell me the PS3 Controller fits in their hands perfectly and fills their hands perfectly, i recommend them seeing a doctor.)

I started playing Tekken 6 on PS3 because i got it dirt cheap and it's actually fun on the PS3. I hated Tekken 6 on the Xbox 360 and I thought it was the game that sucked but now I'm realizing that it was the controller.
